Why the hells are tights so tight around the waist?!

For the record, my waist is very small, and I still find that almost all tights I buy are uncomfortably tight around the middle. I tend to end up snipping the waistband a bit, which looks shit.

Any recommendations for tights that aren't so bloody ... tight?

Are you buying control tights? I have on a basic black pair from primark and they are quite comfy and I do not have a small waist.

I have the same problem and I just snip the waistbands. Does it look shit? Who's going to see it anyway?

I have the same problem. Can't breathe properly til I take them off!

This drives me bonkers! I have yet to find a comfy pair. If I buy the next size up, they are far too long and bunch up unattractively round the ankles. I would love to know if anyone out there has found a brand that doesn't do this! Maybe I might stick to wearing my old maternity ones :)

I have never found this. I am 5'10" though so always have to buy xl for them to be the right length and am only a size 12, maybe that is why?

Not buying control tights mirpuppet, just normal ones. I'm glad I'm not the only one! WhereTheWildThings you're lucky! I have to buy XS or S (am 5'5" and size 6/8, so bigger ones are v baggy round the ankles).

Cazza the comfiest pair I've found are Falke 'family tights' - they're a kind of woolly cotton, so not that attractive but they have an extra wide waistband that doesn't dig in at all. Wish they'd make them in nice smooth material too.

wellwisher It doesn't look shit to the outside world, but I know it's there and I don't like wearing butchered tights. It's kind of like wearing mismatched underwear to me .

Snip them at the back so you can't see the butchered bit?

Falke tights are the only ones that don't dig in my belly.
