I have a Radley purse at the moment but it has aged badly and is, well...(((whispers))) very mumsy. I am indeed a mother but I am not 65.

What I really want: brown leather (tan or chestnut probably), LARGE as I have masses to fit in it, photo sleeve, zipped pocket/s for coins, good quality, leather, ideally lots of compartments. Hmm Is this possible??

Budget £100 maximum.

Thanks in advance.

If i had £100 budget then another radley would be my first choice, if not I'd head into John Lewis for a look around, have funSmile

Thank you! I can't get to a John Lewis or a Radley sadly as I live abroad...but I guess I could check out their websites...

John Lewis are doing some lovely own brand purses which escape the incredibly heavy branding often seen on purses - (their size doesn't suit me)...I have been looking hard but the best quality purses/wallets - always have a great big tacky lable stuck on the outside...hence while I'm still looking.

slinkyboo · 12/03/2012 10:28

Will definitely check out JL.

I really like Aspinall purses.

warmandwooly · 12/03/2012 12:55

Yes. TK Maxx is just magical. Don't know if you will find what is on the website necessarily instore (Gold Label and non Gold Label) as the TK Maxx near me no longer has the dedicated Gold Label section. I have had some amazing bargains from there.
They have some lovel god label bags and shoes the website too!

warmandwooly · 12/03/2012 13:11

Gold label not god..obv.

Yes TK Maxx is amazing!

I hope you get what you want slinky. I hope you come and share your spoils on this thread!

I know its over your budget but check out the Mulberry purses - I have an absoute brilliant one from there - nice and big and still looks brand new - it must be almost 2 years old now.

slinkyboo · 12/03/2012 17:04

I love Mulberry...in fact I have a mulberry purse but it's too small now for all my crap Sad I got it for £90 about 8 years ago from the outlet at Bicester Smile

Your username has just reminded me to get some rich tea bics this weekend from the uk Grin

I have a Modalu purse, in chilli but it's more brown than fiery red, I love it. It was only about£45 I think.

Thank you for the new ideas! Thanks

Hannah (great username) under the John Lewis one there is the most beautiful Osprey zip-around large purse which is PERFECT. Right colour, right style, right compartments. I am hoping I might find a TK Maxx equivalent this weekend as I know they stock Osprey...I'll let you know!

Love the Aspinal one...again, just the colour and style I like. But as you say, perhaps a little lacking in compartments (I covet compartments Blush)

Madamecholet - thank you also. There are masses on the NOTHS website so I will browse later!

I rather like oilcloth wallets, too...Cath Kidston are too small but does anyone know what that brand is that often have apples/pears on the front? (Sounds hideous, I know Hmm)

I just bought my mum the Peony and Moore purse for Mothers Day, there's a £20 off code LOVEMUM. Cant comment on the quality because I've not seen it yet but the handbags I've had from there hVe been great.

I've got the most delicious Mulberry purse, big thing in sumptuous blue leather. It's very big and loads of room but cost a bit more than £100!!

suebfg · 13/03/2012 19:53

I recently bought my Osprey wallet from TK Maxx and am delighted with the quality - was £19.99 reduced from over £130. I was looking up to the £100 budget mark too - including Aspinal - but my TK Maxx bargain was by far the best quality.

warmandwooly · 13/03/2012 20:03

Slinky boo- the apples and pears pattern is Orla Keilly (sp)

ruby22 · 13/03/2012 20:11

orla kiely is most likely the apples/pears one you mention.
I recently bought a pink croc leather one from tk maxx for £20 would have been 120 at JL, am currently after a Modalu one also in their lovely tan leather, off to the local outlet village at the weekend, may just have a sneaky wander around Mulberry and stroke the bags and purses there Smile

ruby22 · 13/03/2012 20:15

this is the tan one I like at the moment.

This is the one I got at the weekend when then zip finally went on my old one. Masses of slots and a zip/coin bit, not too huge and not too expensive

slinkyboo · 13/03/2012 21:07

Envy of Doyou's large Mulberry purse...

suebfg, I'm keeping fingers crossed!!

warm...not what I was thinking (although I like OK)...the ones I'm thinking of are from a range that does washbags and handbags, in a very distinctive oilcloth with large appliqued (if that's the right word) apples or pears, and others have old-fashioned luggage labels...Hmm
