the New Look (Marant lookalike) suede cowboy ankle boots ...

I caught a glimpse of myself wearing knee length boots and jeans the other day and realised that I look very 2001. I need boots to go with skinny jeans (and sometimes day dresses) and am on the point of ordering the New Look suede cowboy boots while size 5s are still in stock. I might get both the black and tan while they're half price. I have black, red and indigo skinny jeans so it would make sense to get two. I covet the Marant ones (in my dreams).

I can't link (on phone) but have any of you bought them and what did you think of them? They don't seem to be very high, but are they leg-lengthening (am short)?

here

BearlyThere · 13/03/2012 16:22

I have vthe tip shop ones abd wear them slightly unzipped with jeans flopped inside.

MrsCampbellBlack · 13/03/2012 16:48

Oh Amber I love it when that happens! Happened to me in HN with my KG sweeps - assistant thought they were pistols

pluckingupcourage · 13/03/2012 17:01

and now I want the pistols too [covets]

This is the point where I smugly mention again how I got my pistols for £36 at the Matches clearance...

MrsCampbellBlack · 14/03/2012 20:44

Ignores Amber studiously

pluckingupcourage · 15/03/2012 00:46

Grrr. Missed the pistol boat entirely it seems.

In more news the New look boots have arrived. I love them. Though the zip on one of the black boots is a bit peculiar/doesn't quite unzip as smoothly as I'd live. Not sure whether that will settle down or if I should request another pair.

Mulls ...

I may have to have those snake print shoes ...

MooMinCow · 15/03/2012 07:34

Mine arrived too! But think they're too big (am 4.5, ordered 5 and and falling off even with insole). Have re ordered black in 4 (and those snake print heels out of curiosity) so will see how they fit.

I'm now rethinking the whole ankle boot thing. Just can't get my skinny jeans and jeggings to sit right on the top of them grr. Don't want to be constantly fiddling with them whilst wearing, maybe I need a pair a bit slouchier round the ankle and minus a zip?

Btw Plucking, I found the zip a bit dodgy on my tan pair too, but they no longer have a size 4 in stock (wails)

monkeysmama · 15/03/2012 08:04

Moo, the Ash Jalouse are wider at the top and fit jeans in no problem. They're more £ but are well worth it imo. I have black smd stone and I've worn mine more than any other boots ever.

MooMinCow · 15/03/2012 10:59

thanks Mmama. really can't spend that much, but might try a pair on - are they available on the high street?

AndiMac · 15/03/2012 13:35

You've collectively twisted my arm and I've ordered a pair of the Aldo boots too now.

pluckingupcourage · 15/03/2012 22:36

I've also ordered the Snakeskin heels from New Look.

I had to - it was £1 delivery yesterday.

Waiting for them to arrive ... MooMinCow the zip on the black boots seems to be improving (not that I've been trying them on all the time or anything) so they might be a keeper.

What are you doing with yours?

You could wear your zip a bit down so that you can flop your jeans casually half in and half out?

OP posts:
pluckingupcourage · 15/03/2012 22:38

And the tan marant-alike boots have now gone completely out of stock!!

OP posts:
pluckingupcourage · 17/03/2012 18:06

MooMinCow have you received the snake print shoes yet? I haven't yet ... wonder what they'll be like.

I was going to exchange the black NL boots for another pair (dodgy zip) but in a cruel twist of fate the package was in my car when it was broken into last night so I suspect there is a thief mincing about in some small black marant-alikes as we speak. Not entirely sure what the protocol is on items stolen before they get to be returned.

MooMinCow · 17/03/2012 18:16

oh no! I picked up the snakeskin shoes yesterday but they are sooo uncomfortable Sad. they are so stiff they cut into the sides of my feet so they are now sitting in my (growing) pile of 'things to return'. the size 4 black boots deffo a better fit, am kicking myself for not ordering the tan in a 4 now. Angry

will try the black ones with a few more bits over the weekend before I decide, then I might order those tan Aldo boots.

pluckingupcourage · 17/03/2012 18:26

for me the size five boots (well, the tan ones I still have are a bit loose on me (very narrow feet) but I probably do need the length (looks back nostalgically to when everywhere had half sizes). I might pop an insole in.

Spent today looking through bins to see if thief had chucked the stuff away anywhere: no luck.

Wasn't expecting the snake print shoes to be stiff, this is going to be quite interesting ... does the print look nice?

OP posts:
MooMinCow · 17/03/2012 18:40

I did like the print, shame they're not softer Sad

And yes, agree about the half sizes. only Clarks and M&S do them on the high street, otherwise it's LK Bennett and upwards. I'm fed up of constantly putting insoles in all my shoes!

MooMinCow · 18/03/2012 18:30

Plucking - I have boot resolution - yay!

Went to Aldo today and got the Tan Qualheim boots. Similar to the NL ones, but lower cut round the ankles so my skinnies sit perfectly now.... Will return ALL the others tomorrow!

Am a happy bunny finally Grin

pluckingupcourage · 18/03/2012 18:42

oh dear, they are really really lovely, but more spendy ... I'd already pushed the boat out on the NLs (though I have to say that DH was pleased that I'd actually got an alternative to my battered knee highs, was expecting him to tut at extravagance). In other news I still don't know what to do about the stolen boots. And in yet other news apparently if you put a smudge of WD40 on to a cotton bud you can rub that on any stiff zips (if I had known this I wouldn't have been returning my boots to NL and they wouldn't have been on the backseat of my car when it was broken in to).
Retires to shake fist at the sky ...

OP posts:
monkeysmama · 18/03/2012 18:46

Those Aldo ones are nice. I wore my leopard print NL ones today and got asked twice where they were from.

Clownsarescary · 18/03/2012 19:00

Loving these ankle boots everyone. Feeling a bit Blush because i'm still tucking my skinnies into bikery full length boots, is that out the window?? Blush

pluckingupcourage · 18/03/2012 19:00

ooh are they nice? they look a bit odd online, but the tan and black look much nicer in real life than on the pictures too.

Not sure if I have the confidence to pull them off

OP posts:
pluckingupcourage · 18/03/2012 19:02

clownsarescary I realised that my very 2001 knee length boots had now developed an entirely hollow heel (I was committing the style faux pas of knee length black (heeled) boots with blue denim skinnies) so it was time to do something. I expect that you look infinitely cooler in biker boots!

OP posts:
Clownsarescary · 18/03/2012 19:07

Oh thanks Plucking and sorry for slight hijack Blush. I'm definitely following your style of the ankle boots though I think it would drag me into more current times. I've had the biker boots about 3 years now and I'm trying to wear them to 'death' so I can get rid iyswim.

cardoon · 18/03/2012 19:13

Are you tucking your jeans into the qualheims moo?....and is the colour online true to life?
