Advice on Shampoo/Hair Products

I generally tend to use whatever shampoo and conditioner are on offer in either Boots or Tesco. However, I am conscious that I probably need to be a bit more selective about what I use in order to get my hair looking really good, so would appreciate any advice that you can give me on what to try.

My hair is in a layered bob style, to my jaw. I have highlights and need to wash my hair every day as when I get up it's all over the place and no amount of styling will correct it. It would be prone to greasiness if I left it more than a few days to wash too. I use the Babyliss Big Hair most days to dry it and occasionally run the ghds over the top just to smooth it properly.

Any thoughts? Also, are shampoo and conditioner equally as important, or could I get away with investing more in one over the other?

Thanks in advance!

I have just discovered NAKED shampoo and conditioner in Boots and it is a really good range. BOGOF atm too. No SLSs either.

I am very happy with phillip kingsley!

I will watch this thread with interest. I don't think I've ever noticed any difference in my hair whatever shampoo or conditioner I have used.

I've been looking at Philip Kingsley and wondering if it's worth the extra money??

I use a basic shampoo, think atm it's alberto balsam teatree tingle, and a top quality conditionner. Currently using the Shu Uemera shimmer for coloured hair, I was a bit Shock at the price. But, and completely honest here, bought some back in november (new hairdresser) and the bottle is still half full now (shoulder length hair).

I was using MOP organics Mixed Greens, really nice stuff. Currently using Davines MOMO shampoo and conditioner. It's not cheap though.

I would be very happy with Philip Kingsley too:)
However.... I buy Sebastian light (which is colour safe) from Look Fantastic after many years of trying to find a cheaper substitute. I only buy the conditioner but buy a shampoo for coloured hair - usually Daniel Field Organic as a must. Otherwise I get a spotty head within 2 days for some reason!!!

I've thought the same so have been trying out the ones suggested by my hairdressers....

My hair is Ok condition, thick and coloured. I really liked Redken colour extend shampoo and conditioner - clean, glossy, nice smell. Didn't rate at all Wella SP - felt like much cheaper brand. Friend bought me a sample kit of Philip Kingsley - that is nice, but not as functionally good as Redken - smells nice though.

Currently just using John Frieda's Frizz ease S + C on bogof from supermarket. And I like it actually. Found it similar to Redken but cheaper obviously.

I find the product post-wash is pretty crucial too - espec for my thick hair (otherwise can look like Crystal-tips....esp when I had a bob!). Really liked KMS flat out hot pressed spray - really helped keep it in place and protects from heat. And currently on the old Morrocan Oil - which I quite rate as well.
