Naff? - Yes!

Accessorize do nice ones.

peggyblackett · 08/03/2012 20:35

Have a look at Love Lammie.

fluffiphlox · 08/03/2012 20:37

All Cath Kidston is naff.

shoppingbagsundereyes · 08/03/2012 20:37

Look at the boden ones. I've bought one for the summer and I love it

FannyFifer · 08/03/2012 20:38

Orla Kiely one?

ENormaSnob · 08/03/2012 20:38

Oh, I haven't seen any in accessorize.

Never heard of love lammie but will have a look.

Lisa Stickley bags are nice.

ENormaSnob · 08/03/2012 20:42

I looked at Boden but there were only 3 colours and 1 style.

Have they got more now?

Where would I find orla kiely ones fanny?

Or get this lady to custom make you one (she is good)

louby78 · 08/03/2012 21:16

No! I love them! I think to be honest if you go for an oilskin they are much of a muchness (apart from the orla ones which are fab but more £££) they all have a rather loud/quaint pattern and we all use them for very similar reasons.

Whichever you do pick oilskin a great idea. I've ruined a few fab leather bags by having a leaky tommee tippee of milk or randomly a piece of half eaten babybel which melted in the sun and stained the leather - argh!! Am eyeing up the red boden satchel but it won't be for days out with the children this summer that's for sure!

DilysPrice · 08/03/2012 21:18

Second Lisa Stickley at www.lisastickleylondon.com

muffinmonster · 08/03/2012 21:27

Not naff, twee.

The Lisa Stickley bags look really good.

landofsoapandglory · 08/03/2012 21:33

Ebay usually have lots of oilcloth bags in different styles and patterns.

FannyFifer · 08/03/2012 21:40

She's an Irish designer, www.kilkennyshop.com/Categories/Homepage/Orla+Kiely+Corner/Handbags.aspx
There's some really nice Fossil ones on that site as well. Grin

polyhymnia · 08/03/2012 23:16

Really naff and boring IMO . Also think Orla Kiely too predictable now. The ones by smaller more individual companies look much better. I'm a bit addicted to the 'special edition ' versions of the Longchamp Pliage , tho some seasons are nicer than others (and it's not oilcloth tho certainly weather proof).

FannyFifer · 08/03/2012 23:30

They are not my taste but I know they are very popular. Smile

polyhymnia · 08/03/2012 23:49

Like the Lisa stickley - a bit more subtle and can't be picked out from a mile off. The CK ones remind me a bit of a theme park product.

ENormaSnob · 09/03/2012 08:59

Hmm I understand the twee comments and tbh, that's not me at all really.

I just want something that is ok to carry liquids without being damaged.

I have a lovely fossil bag atm but no way would I use it for drinks etc.

I saw some old ladies in a bus queue the other day with Cath Kitson oil cloth bags...yup their time has gone.

DottyDot · 09/03/2012 09:20

ooh oooh - I love these bags Grin Haven't bought one yet but covet any/all of them!

ShirleySharpeyes · 09/03/2012 09:21

I have one of these with birds on. Wipeable/washable and capapcious and very practical. My MIL has a Cath Kidston oil cloth bag as her hand bag. She is 72 and she loves it, but it has put me off them a little!

BikeRunSki · 09/03/2012 20:48

My sister bought an Orla Kieley one sacs baby bag when her DC1 was born. He's 11 now and it is still going strong.

lilywhitelilleth · 09/03/2012 21:05

I got a lovely one from a site called eleanors attic!

MrsJasonBourne · 09/03/2012 21:13

Cath Kidston oilcloth bags are only waterproofed on the outside. The inside is untreated. I know this for a fact because dd2 thought I might like to take my cup of tea home and put it in my bag. I had to mop it up.
