I'm thinking of getting my colours done as a treat if I can manage to lose a bit of weight - which of these would you recommend? Are they very different?

Without a shadow of a doubt I recommend you go for house of colour. I have never heard of anyone that had a bad HoC experience and everyone I know that's gone to CMB has come out slightly confused. The only real difference I am aware of us that HoC narrow down your season colours into your best ones (double stars) then next best and so on, giving you indication of those that you should veer towards for eg. Coats and those that you may wear less of eg. A pattern colour on something. CMB give you a massive swatch of colours that have left people I know not knowing where to start. I'm sure there are other differences, I'm just not aware if them.

I would go House of Colour - the consultant training is better (I've looked into training with both), the palette all matches itself, iykwim (it kind of does with CMB, but you have to be a little more careful), and the style and make up consultations they offer as well are really good too. The star rating system is useful too, as it means you have a massive palette of toning colours, but know which of those colours are the absolute best.
