Top to go with A-line skirt

I bought this skirt. I love the pattern and I'd like to keep it, but just not sure what to pair it with. I was planning to wear it for work and elsewhere with black tights, but what to go on top? It sits quite high (belly button area), reaches my knees, and because it is reasonably poufy, the waist definitely needs to be accentuated. Otherwise, I will just look frumpy. It looks good with fitted tops that tuck in, but I need something to go over that so that I don't get cold or feel too self conscious. I was thinking maybe a shrug or short jacket?

How about a warm fitted top so you don't have to wear a jacket or shrug? Slim but warm wool poloneck in black or grey?

If you did go for the jacket option I'd go for a long, not short, jacket, fairly slim-fitting but casual, over a tucked-in top.

Cropped cardi as here?

Nice ideas, but Dressipi says avoid roll neck jumpers and round neck cardigans

I'll have another look round the shops, but otherwise it's going back.

Stick to the idea of light weight wool but go for a v neck - add a scarf if its chilling for when you're outside.

Who or what is Dressipi? And is their opinion cast-iron?

A V-neck might work. Good suggestion Seorae.

Dressipi is a website that looks at your measurements and suggests clothes and styles that suit you. I do think it is right on this one, because I'm kind of hippy and curvy and v-necked looks much better on me than high-necked.

Incidentally, the top that looks best with it right now (but is not warm enough) is black and v-necked. If I can find a slim fitting sweater version of that I would be happy, but haven't come across it yet. I'm going shopping later so will have another look.

Gap and Banana Republic often do good fitted, lightweight 'basic' sweaters, usually in good-quality wool. Or Cos? Or H&M?
