Would this work as a wedding dress, do you think?

I realise this may be the wrong section, but not getting a lot of replies in "Wedding" - so hoping you lovely style icons can give me your considered opinions. My friend is hoping for a nice mix of views.

So...

Asking on behalf of a friend who's getting married late summer. Gorgeous castle surroundings, vintage tea party reception type thing. She's struggling to find a dress that she both loves and would fit with the slightly shabby chic theme.

One of her fave films, apparently, is Pride & Prejudice with Keira Knightley. In the ball scene, KK is wearing a very pretty and simple white dress. It has a sort of wrap around type top with an embroidered waistband that ties around the back.

This is the best online pic I could find of it

What do you think?

Yes looks gorgeous but does your friend look like Kiera Knightley?

Hassled · 04/03/2012 14:03

That high waistband (there's a word for it I've forgotten - the seam under the breasts thing) is pretty unforgiving if you have any sort of a tummy on you - assuming your friend is flat of stomach, it's gorgeous and would fit in really well.

@HeartsTrumpDiamonds - LOL...not really, no. BUT she has the same kind of figure, very slim with not much boobage, so I think it's a flattering style.

She's just worried it's not "weddingy" enough. I don't agree, I have to say - it's long and white at least :)
