Anyone had a haircut at the Aveda Institute

Right, my hair is a mess, and I need a good haircut, that's going to be easy to look after and less like I've been climbing trees all day. At nearly 40, I need to finally grow up and spend some money on my hair rather than occasionally diving into the nearest salon and having the junior test our her latest skills. I work in central London, so am contemplating the Aveda Institute, but am prepared to be tempted elsewhere if anyone can persuade me. I am prepared to spend up to £80 if absolutely necessary - just a cut, I am more than happy with the occasional home dye job.

Yep, I've been going there for about 5 years and have had two different stylists (one left to go back to Oz). Highly recommend it - Liana and Susannah are especially good.

I recomment Brooks and Brooks in Holborn. There a lady called Valerie who is brilliant. I normally pay about £50

JustAnother · 03/03/2012 15:55

sorry, I realise that has nothing to do with Aveda, but since they are close by, I though I'd mention it.

Used to go there but my wonderful stylist Antoinette left to be their creative director in US. Great for her not so good for me.Now go to Charles Worthington also close by in Covent Garden and recommend Jess there.

Thanks - these are all very helpful suggestions. It wasn't that it had to be Aveda, just that it is near the office. Will check out Brookes and Brookes. In a previous life I used to go to Charles Worthington, when I had no children and disposable income, and it was always really good.

Think the prices at C W are v comparable to Aveda Inst. Not sure if Brooks and Brooks are cheaper but guess it's all on the websites.

PS I pay a bit under £80 now and CW also have a loyalty type scheme which brings it down a bit.

Years ago, yes.

I had a colour and a cut. Cut was ok, nothing special. Was disappointed in the colour, tbh. Had highlights and wanted some red through it - what I got looked like someone had coloured individual strands in with a biro!!

Your call but I thought it was overpriced and a bit of a let down.

nappy no didn't know - have been away a few weeks. Thanks for telling me. Look forward to congratulating her at my next appointment.
She has got a great personality hasnt she - and also listens to what I want, unlike some more pricy people at 'top' salons I've tried who think they know best.
