Double search!! What is the best fake tan that absolutely doesn't streak- despite moisturising and exfoliating it always streaks on me.
Also looking for a daily moisturiser with fake tan that doesn't syreak. To be really honest amn't the best exfoliator in the world.

I think you have to put it on much more generously than you imagine, and then it doesn't streak- a bit like nail varnish iyswim.

Hopefully · 03/03/2012 08:54

The only time I have ever got non streaky fake tan wa when I exfoliated myself halftime death then put it on about three times as thickly as I was comfortable with.

Oh, and exfoliating half to death every couple of days thereafter to prevent uneven fading.

It's so much effort, I can't normally be bothered to fake tan in the first place,

ifancyashandy · 03/03/2012 08:57

For home fake tan, it's St Trop all the way for me. But you HAVE to prep for it! Exfoliate I'm afraid!! Shave/wax the day before, moisturise the day before (or, the morning & then tan in the eve - it's much less likely to streak if there's at least 8 hours between moisturising & tanning) and wear gloves to apply it in a circular motion.

Then buff it. Either use the mitt they do or turn a towelling sock inside out & GENTLY buff to minimise the risk if streaks.

Sleep in old dressing gown, wake up, freak at colour, remember it's the top coat, jump in shower, reveal golden you!

Daily tanner - Pizz Buin is lovely. No smell and has slight instant effect some you get immediate colour & can see where you're applying it.

ifancyashandy · 03/03/2012 09:10

Oh, and DO NOT use deodorant before applying. Your armpits will go green!

And if that does happen, rubbing Tomato Ketchup into the offending area works! You need to put it on some cotton wool and rub (will take a while to remove it all & may need lots of Tommy K) and then apply a gradual tanner to now bright red and rubbed raw armpits.

i SWEAR by st moriz

its about 3 quid from home bargains / savers etc

get a tanning mitt to apply it with, it doesn't streak, gives a lovely natural colour and best of all it doesnt go patchy just fades away.

its brilliant, best i have ever used and i have used MANY Blush

MistyMountainHop · 03/03/2012 10:52

oh yeah and you MUST exfoliate before you put it on, a few hours before ideally and dont moisturise apart from your knees, elbows and neck.

georgesmummy11 · 03/03/2012 11:16

I second st moritz dirt cheep and leaves a nice natural tan as natural as fake tan comes
Does look dark before you wash it off I often forget to exfoliate before and don't streak x

Sparklegeek · 03/03/2012 11:17

Avon Airbrush spray. Goes on dry so you can dress immediately, never ever streaks, no preparation/exfoliation required, doesn't smell anything like all the others. In the summer I apply every other day after showering, done in 2 mins, result! And people always ask me what I use to get such a natural colour.

EllenParsons · 03/03/2012 11:24

For the last couple of days I have been using Garnier Summerbody and it works really well. Normally I have to put gradual tanning moisturiser on for weeks before I notice anything, but this has given me a noticeable tan after only 2 or 3 applications! It doesn't streak at all if you apply it evenly and quite generously. I now see I have missed a tiny bit inside my wrist but now that the colour is there it should be v easy to fix that bit when topping up :) Colour doesn't come off on sheets or anything! I got the one for "deeper skin tones" by accident even though I am fair, but it still looks natural.

Link here with reviews/ I got 400 ml for about £4 in Tesco

LadyWithEDS · 03/03/2012 13:59

Marking place in the hope of nice sunshine soon.

kaumana · 03/03/2012 14:12

I use St Tropez gradual tan for light to medium skin tone. I am very fair and it looks very natural and does not have the smell that other fake tans have. I paid about £11 for a large tube. I put it on using non latex gloves which you can get from a chemists.

anniewoo · 04/03/2012 11:36

Thank you for all the suggestions

I recommend St Tropez's Aftersun with a hint of self-tan (can get it for around a tenner on ebay). You can slap it on willy nilly as the amount of self-tan is low but you still build up a decent amount of colour after two applications. Smells OK too.

anniewoo · 14/05/2012 21:18

I bought the garnier no streaks bromzer. Applied it yesterday- it streaked Sad . My legs are a complete mess-really patchy. Luckily it was a trial run!

St Tropez everyday is brilliant. Garnier spray awful IMO. Heard great things about St Moritz but cba letting it develop, washing it off etc.

Kim24 · 04/07/2012 21:47

I've used most from tan towels, creams and sprays, and ended up all colours... but the best one I've used is Creightons Fake Don't Bake from Home Bargains - 99p!! .... it goes on brilliant and doesn't make you smell like an old sock the day after :)

DialsMavis · 04/07/2012 22:58

I use the garnier summer body one and am very happy with the results. But, I only like a bit of a glow and am far too tight to spend much more than a few pounds Smile

monkeysmama · 05/07/2012 00:28

I use St Tropez Everyday. I put a normal moisturiser on after my shower, wait a while for it to settle in, the put St Tropez on. Last of all I rub a damp flannel along my hands, inner arm, elbow and feet. Sounds a faff but doesn't take long and gives a very natural colour.

WhateverHappenedToWinceyWillis · 05/07/2012 00:56

I have been using the Utan gradual tan, I have tried them all and this is the best for me.

Pelicano · 05/07/2012 10:01

St Tropez everyday tan free with Elle this month!

Imisssleepingin · 05/07/2012 22:06

Yup creightons fake don't bake is fab ! V easy to apply and doesn't come off on your bed covers

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 07/07/2012 19:09

My St Moritz (medium colour) arrived in today's post and I slapped it on at 11am. I have been doing lots of exfoliating and moisturising over the last week. So far I am VERY impressed. No streaking and it looks really natural. I'm very fair skinned and all other self-tans have just made me look dirty and have gone patchy after a day or two so that I then look like a dirty giraffe! This was really easy to apply (and I am really rubbish at doing stuff like this). I've just had a shower and the colour looks lovely. I wouldn't say it didn't smell biscuity though. Not as bad as all the others I've tried but still biscuity. Depending on how well it wears, I will be topping it up again in a few days to try get a bit deeper colour. Will report back on whether it goes patchy. Had never heard of St Moritz till I came on here. Mumsnet is costing me a fortune!

Apparantly the most popular fake tan is L'oreal sublime, (www.theranktank.com/beauty/best-fake-tan/) which is pretty good as it's easy to put on without it streaking too much.
