Can I wear grey nails with a red dress?

Ok so grey nails/red dress probably a good combination. But I was planning on wearing said dress with a green/red spotty scarf. Too much?

I would go for a more neutral colour personally, but do what makes you happy.

My rule of thumb with bold nails is - neutral clothes and bold nails or bold clothes and neutral nails. I am sure that is probably wrong but it feels a bit over kill if I do bold everything iyswim.

Sounds great to me - colourful and "dressed up" is good for christenings.
