Slim/skinny smart trousers for an apple !

bunionscomingsoon · 29/02/2012 19:03

I need some smart work trousers to wear with different jackets for the spring/summer - I have long slim legs, a flat bottom but am an apple shape with a round tum!- so most trousers that are comfortable round the waist are gaping and saggy below the bum and on the thighs - want some straight or skinny leg but not jeans or leggings - - that can work with heels or flats - - anyone of you marvellous fashionistas know of anything to suit?? Grin

If you find any let me know :)

ggirl · 29/02/2012 20:08

I am after the same thing and saw these the other day
have never bought anything from wall before and the rest of the stuff looks a bit as if it's for retired artistes

bunionscomingsoon · 29/02/2012 20:19

I agreeggirl - nice but the linen puts me off as it crumples so easily and is hard to keep a smart feel about it - -

I did manage to get a flat fronted no waist band side zip pair from M&S but that was a year ago - not sure if they still sell them.

I tend to wear dresses now tbh

Bunbaker · 29/02/2012 20:53

I usually find that Next cater very well for apple shapes.

fairlytiredallthetime · 29/02/2012 21:04

M&S Treggings

OK, I know they look like old lady trousers BUT I have just bought these. They are much better in real life than they look on the website and you would obviously have to wear a long top/tunic over the top to hide the elasticated waistband :) I'm watching this with interest as your body shape sounds exactly the same as mine.

StyleGuile · 29/02/2012 21:21

Leave it with me ladies and I will do some research in the stores for you. Unfortunately apple ladies often have to spend a little more to get the perfect trousers but you look so amazing in them it's worth it - if we can find some!

bunionscomingsoon · 29/02/2012 21:25

Thanks fairlytired - but just not smart enough for work - -that's the trouble - everything is either too casual - or if smarter they are boot leg - wide leg - or baggy bottoms - I want a nice straight leg to the ankle - fitted round my bum and comfortable on the waist -- not low rise as I would have a huge muffin top.!
Shock
Off to check out Next - - thanks!

I'm with you, it's almost like I need a waistband that goes over my bump belly. (not pregnant tho Blush ) and really holds it in. My problem is I also have huge norks.

bunionscomingsoon · 29/02/2012 22:00

That's not a problem!- that's a bonus! - - - good bra and slim legs - sounds like a great look to me!!

unfortunately BFing at the mo & I mean stupid big. Ah well Grin huge norks and a pot post baby belly in reality IYSWIM?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/02/2012 22:13

I'm looking for exactly the same thing but am an hour glass. I've got some wide legged trousers and I wear a lot of skirts and dresses but I really fancy some straight or skinny trousers for a change. I've got some M&S cigarette leg ones which aren't bad but are too baggy on my bum and thighs.

ggirl · 29/02/2012 23:45

thes if they were black?

MrsBadger · 29/02/2012 23:52

just out of interest, have you fed your measurements into [http://sizes.darkgreener.com/ this]] gadget to at least get an idea which shops' cuts are closest to your shape?
It has revolutionised my work-trouser buying (admittedly because I now have to go to Dorothy Perkins not anywhere nicer...)

MrsBadger · 29/02/2012 23:54

oh ffs

I take two years off and forget how to do links

Thanks mrs Badger -- what a great site! - - have bookmarked it for future use - cannot believe the difference in sizes from all the different shops for my measurements!Confused

The Reiss nancy trouser is a slim leg capri pant with a side zip and a decent rise. Unfortunately on the pricey side at £110 (ouch, I know) but maybe worth trying them for size and then ringing Bicester to see if they have any from last season. Reiss are good at repeating their styles and Bicester may well send them out to you.

bunionscomingsoon · 01/03/2012 13:53

ThanksStyleGuile - I have some Reiss slim leg but don't want to knock them about for work - so was looking for just those - but something cheaper - - my others I keep for best and very smart!

Interesting site, Mrs Badger but not v useful to me tops-wise. I'm a 34 but an E cup so it's saying I should be a size 10 everywhere but I need at least a 12 and sometimes a 14 to fit my bust in! It also seems to suggest that Reiss stuff comes up big - have never tried anything on in there but had assumed it was for teeny tiny thin ironing board straight people.

RandomMess · 01/03/2012 19:13

Well I'm off to Top Shop it would seem!

GeetTallBird · 01/03/2012 20:44

I have same problem, but 36" leg, I quite fancy high waisted jeans but not sure where to find them!

MrsBadger · 01/03/2012 21:43

Remus they don't want your bra band size but your tape-measure-round-fullest-part-of-bust measurement, which obv allows for cup size

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/03/2012 21:46

Aha! Thank you. May get the tape measure out at the weekend then! And then sob when I discover I'm actually a size 48 everywhere.
Now can you find me a pair of trousers please? :) It's good to see you back - about three years ago you advised me to cut my hair much shorter and I've never looked back.
