Dress, tights and - sandals???

Im going on a night out and I really want to look nice.

I'll be wearing a dress similar to this with dark black tights. What shoes do I wear? Can't get away with sandals with tight surely?

Have you got a pair of peep toes in one of the colours in the dress eg turquoise. I've seen pics of coloured peeps with black plaques, or coloured opaques with black peeps.

Otherwise I'd drop the tights and get a fake bake on your pins.

Are they opaque tights, cos if so, only a full shoe will do. High, high black suede. Lovely dress, by the way.

I do wear peep toe shoes with opaques. I actually think they look good but I may be deluded.

I wouldn't go with sandals though, one step too far IMO.

I dont think you're deluded Choc but you're right, only a peep toe not a sandal. That pretty little dress needs balance at the other end.

Or Lisaro's suggestion (but I assumed OP hadn't any high blacks or that would have been the default).

When I saw this thread, I immediately thought of fashion week and how many girls I saw in opaques and sandals and I think if worn well, it can look really funky. Here's WIT's blog and she did the look on 21 Feb - looked fab.
Love the dress btw...nice choice and I would wear with opaques myself but probably with a stiletto shoe boot or peep toes. Don't worry about breaking the rules a bit :)

Having seen that, yep, peep toes DO work! I eat my words! Still can't see a sandal working, though. I still also think high heels, to balance the dress.

Hate tights and sandals

I can't wear anything too high as I'm 5ft 10in. Don't want to tower over everyone kitten heels are as far as I go.

Love tights with (smart, high heeled) sandals or peep toes - but the tights really, really have to be opaque for it to work.

Any hint of being able to see toenails through the tights & it goes wrong.

Opaque tights would be ok with peeptoe maybe, but I wouldn't wear an open toed shoe with tights. I would just wear high courts, you can get somelovely ones. But whatever you do make sure they are the same colour as the tights otherwise I think it just looks awful.
If you have different coloured shoes go bare legged.
What about high boots?
