hotel wedding, I'm a very unimportant guest. I'm an apple shaped size 12-14, 5'4", not a girly girl, like plain classic (yes boring) clothes, usually dress in trousers, budget up to £200 - but only if I'll wear it loads of times, I usually spend a miserly £50 per outfit Blush was last fashionable some time in the early eighties Blush Blush

ok, I feel I go on about this dress all the time but it is just sooo flattering, Phase Eight Verity. They currently have it in 2 forms of taupe/oyster/praline type colour. I think you could accessorise it up or down depending on the event, sorry can't do links right now as on my phone but take a look and go and try one on.

I'd second the Phase 8 Verity dress. Just got this one for a wedding & managed to get it with 20% off so worth looking for a code. Think plenty accessories would go with it (I've done for teal but gold, cream, nude would all go). The only thing is it's just on the knee on me & I'm 5'7 so might be bit long on you but worth a try on. You can get it from Phase 8 website, John Lewis, Debenhams, Fenwick. Phase 8 hav some lovely dresses (& I'm NOT a dress person!)

guffaw I am same height as you and mine is just on the knee. I think (but not certain) that the current full price on on the website is longer than the £88 one.

I've had a look, and tis a very lovely dress, I think it would wear me though, I'm not very glamorous - think Barbara Royle with a neck length bob - and thats after I've scrubbed up! Sad
