White top and trousers...

Going to a swimming pool event this weekend and have to wear white trousers and a white top...

I'm currently a size 16 (desperate to loose more than a few LBS) and about 5.6'' . Any ideas as how not to look like a giant Marshmallow or on my way to work at the funny farm. I have a pair of draw string long linen type trousers from Next, which could do if I can not find anything else but really stuck for a top, the white ones I have really don't go with the trousers. Ideally would be happy to go out and buy a new outfit.

thanks

I got these last week in H&M as an alternative to linen trousers for the Summer. Nice fit with a bit of stretch, bit see through but I'll have a long top over them. Only £15. Primark have a lovely sheer blouse at the moment, with gold buttons that just go half way down (so it's a pull over the head kind of top). Nice button detail on the sleeve too. Sorry no link but they are £10 and would be nice worn with a long white vest under (H&M good for these also)
Sounds like a tough one to dress for. Bring a long boyfriend cardigan (not white!) to throw over you for getting there and getting home! Enjoy Smile

Thanks Dingdong3,

Those trousers are very nice, also problem is that I can't wear too many layers because it can get very hot at the poolside. I was thinking of using a little bit of sunless tanner. Trouble is that if that goes wrong I'll end up orange and white.

long white linen trousers, plain white vest with an oatmeal long knit (an open knit, kimono style-I got one in mango and it goes over everything -can't link as they change their website so often). Tan sandals with a bit of sparkle = sorted
