Talk to me about Home Colouring - Going Blonde

Like the title says, I want to be Blonde, but I haven't got the cash to splurge on a colour at the hairdressers. I've got mostly natural light brown hair, in fairly good condition, with a few bits of blonde highlights almost grown out.

In the olden days I used to be fearless about home colouring and used to bleach my hair with the Jerome Russell peroxide and packets. I really don't want to ruin my hair, but I'm feeling like living a bit dangerously. Grin

Yes i used to use Jerome Russell too.. Bleaching it to within an inch of its life, then either washing with Schwarzkopfs 'touch of Silver' shampoo to make it pure platinum, or going for a Crazy Colour/Directions.. Happy days Grin

So if you're light brown, you haven't got too far to go, why not use the 9% Peroxide mix, and build up to blonde by increasing the highlights over time? It'll take longer but won't be as scarey Smile

what colour blond and how blond do u want to be? do u want it to look like highlights or an all over blond? do u want just one colour or do u want it to look multi tonal? as a hairdresser i am always weary of ppl home colouring blond, theres a big chance it could go gingery! my advice would be to go to a salon and ask them if they do training days and see if an assistant can do it, they usually charge a very small price £15-20, which isnt much more than what u would spend on diy kits. if you go to a salon with a good rep then i think u should be fine, in my salon all trainees are supervised and are just as good as the stylists. only thing is u would need 2 have time on your side as obv they are learning so arent as quick just yet.
