what can I get in Cath Kidston when I don't really like Cath Kidston?!

I have a £50 voucher. I think the giver was thinking I'd get a bag or something 'nice' for myself. Trouble is, I don't like any of the bags or wallets, etc.

All I can think of that I like is some oilcloth for the kitchen table and some of the mugs. I suspect the voucher giver did not want me to spend it on things for my house.

Any ideas what I can get when I don't actually like much, except the odd bit of homeware? Cath Kidston for someone who doesn't like Cath Kidston?!

CK has some nice spotty stuff in this seasons - ivory spots on a dove grey background - a little more chic than their usual offerings if you aren't keen on all the flowers. Or what about a pair of PJs or a dressing gown?

However, if Cath Kidston is not for you I would ebay the voucher and get something nice for yourself with the proceeds.

I have had good sucess ebaying vouchers - I got £90 for a £100 Ikea voucher once and £8 for a £10 hobbycraft voucher to give you an idea.

Grin The voucher giver will know if I don't buy something! For some reason, there is a myth about that I like CK as I have also had presents from there from DH Hmm

Shall I just buy the oilcloth and the few mugs that I quite like?

The whole point of vouchers is so you can choose something you like. So I wouldn't worry about getting homeware.

Although I'm amazed you don't want a few of these Grin

I have some pjs from there. They are very soft and warm, even if you don't like the print. Think they were about £50. What a rip off lovely present!

I've got a couple of tops in the sale. They're plain cotton, really good quality, wash well. The only evidence that they are CK is the inside label!

I love certain CK stuff but that mug is AWFUL!

Another strategy: go in, buy sale stuff heavily reduced, show your 'purchases' to your friend and ebay, pocket the proceeds and get something you like. (I bought a phone cover for £4.50 in sale, changed my mind about it, just sold on ebay for £8 BNIB)

This person knows me very well, and will know if I don't use what I bought. Unless it was pjs maybe.

I think I might just get the oilcloth (we need one)!

Just checked the website as I thought that, no ways was there nothing...the only thing I liked were the pants. Even the dressing gowns are yuck. Go for home ware I reckon - though even that is all a bit twee!

I did the same at Christmas changed a large (v. expensive) shawl from my MIL for a red spotted large umbrella plus some fabric. Not my cuppa either, especially that mug!

What about glasses ?(drinking-not sunglasses)They do nice clear glasses, coloured ones too but not so nice.

Last year the shop had some nice cotton dresses -- as someone else said only way one would know is label inside.

I wouldn't buy anything that would encourage further CK buying from this friend or from DH. You need to 'get it out there' that you do NOT like it, before you end up with a houseful of this stuff!!

If you genuinely like the oilcloth then buy it and if you friend says that she intended you to buy something more personal just tell her that you like the odd thing (like the oilcloth) but that the bags etc are just not you and that now you have the oilcloth & whatever DH has bought you, you really have everything you'd ever want from CK.

I like their stuff, but I do find the oilcloth bags etc, are very durable. I really abuse bags and they hold up really well. I hope they make a DSLR bag as the only ones I've seen are black and I fear putting them down and losing them.

I like CK jewellery. I have these but with a turquoise bead like this. I love these too.
