Daytime-only wedding - what sort of dress?

It's actually my wedding, but I'm not wanting the traditional long white dress :). Not really sure what type of dress I do want/need though, would appreciate any help with this as I rarely wear dresses and don't have much of a clue...

It's going to be just a midday civil ceremony followed by a sit-down dinner, and we'll probably be all done by about 5-6pm. So I don't want anything too evening-y (would feel a bit silly in a strapless ballgown for example), but don't want to look too casual or officey either.

So what sort of thing do you wear if you want to be dressed up for a nice lunch but not over-dressed for daytime?

I quite liked this one, though it is listed as an evening dress...

Ephiny that dress is absolutely gorgeous, love the colour. Not sure of what type of style you'd suit but here are a couple of non-strapless options
purple
ivory but fairly plain style
not sure if this is your thing but looks nicer in RL
pale pink

the ivory one clure posted is stunning would look lovely for a more casual wedding if your not after a full on wedding dress

You still need to look like the bride I think not a guest...

saw this linked on another website lots of colours not sure how sizing works though.

Thank you for all the suggestions! Clure that ivory one is beautiful, I wasn't really planning to wear white, but starting to think I might change my mind for the right dress :). Only thing with that one is that V at the back looks very deep, would have to make sure it didn't come too low on me as I'm a bit short...

So the satin evening-type dresses might be OK then, even though it isn't an evening do? I guess for your wedding you're allowed to be a bit more dressed up than on the average occasion!

I'm 5'2" and size 10, slightly pear more-or-less hourglass shape.

Ephiny, you definitely are allowed to dress up on your wedding day! Mine was a rather low key, homemade affair.I went for a long shot silk evening-y type thing. I felt very special. The ivory one is lovely, hope you manage to find just the right dress for you, maybe go and try on some styles to see what suits your shape, I'm also petite so understand it can be a bit tricky with some styles!

Yes I think I need to go and actually try on some dresses and get an idea of what works for me! Thanks again for your help :)
