Help - we've a family interview at a top public school with our son to see if it's the right place for him in the future....

What on earth do I wear to create the right impression?

Short and dumpy..... will be in the UK on a short holiday so not much packing space.

Ideas needed as don't want to over do it - or look a scruff.

Was thinking black/coloured dress, boots, scarf and coat.

What you're planning to wear sounds fine to me. Are they really going to judge you on what you wear? Strange.

Yep - your suggestion sounds perfect. Make sure you feel confident and comfortable. IF you've got a choice of colours go for red- that'll make you stand out !
Most of the mothers in my DD's playground (private school) wear Boden. (groan, it's like the parents school uniform)
I don't. (much)

Good luck - hope your son likes the school.

I wouldn't worry about this. I wore jeans, ankle boots, jersey blazer and a stripey top underneath for what it's worth but there were people dressed in all sorts of things (even thigh high boots)
