Basic info. Early 30's mum of 3. Size 10, 5' 3".

I'll be sitting down and then standing around and it's a long event. I want to be comfy but look fab, obviously! There will be a mix of people/ages but suspect everyone will be very 'on-trend'.

Thinking of pretty beaded grey top (1920's vibe), black blazer, black skinnies, grey heels.

Big earrings, loose curls in my hair and dark nails.

What do you think????

Sounds good, esp 20s top as v on trend. If you want to go even more on tend a contrasting shoe would be great - perhaps a yellow or bright pink as a nod to the neon trend?

ENormaSnob · 17/02/2012 09:31

Sounds lovely to me.

coffeenut · 17/02/2012 09:35

what is the dress code?

threeisthemagicnumber · 17/02/2012 10:05

Hmmm...I need new shoes you say...

coffee There's no official dress code.

Topshop & Aldo have got some great new season heels in.

KateSpade · 17/02/2012 10:28

I'd team that outfit with a Designer arm-candy bag.

And, i hope the earings arn't hoops,

I think Pink and white acrylic always look more 'together' than nail varnish.

But other than that sounds lovely.

What make-up are you wearing?

threeisthemagicnumber · 17/02/2012 11:23

And I need a new bag?? Damn Wink

Def not hoops. Thinking beaded ones but haven't got them yet???

Not sure about make up...any advice???

My one piece of advice, gospel worthy:

False Eyelashes.

Lovely day time glam eye make-up, and keep everything else simple.

Light fake-tan possibly..

QueenCadbury · 17/02/2012 18:06

Maybe an oversize clutch. I have seen lots in magazines lately.

Definately like the dark nails rather than pink/white and very cheap and easy to buy an on trend colour.

Whatever you buy/wear make sure you're comfortable as there's nothing worse than looking like you're trying too hard. Have fun!

threeisthemagicnumber · 17/02/2012 18:41

Thanks everyone. Will get a couple of hours to myself tomorrow afternoon so will see what I can get.

Very excited now that outfit is sorted!

Yes definitely dark nails, pink and white too Middleton.

Oversized clutch great idea, Zara have some lovely ones. I think pop of colour would be good with a dark neutral outfit.

Have a lovely time!

Bellebelle · 17/02/2012 19:14

Def think dark nails best, grey is a great nail colour or the sludgy purpley/grey that chanel do, can't remember the name.

Topshop have a camel coloured clutch with neon pink spots just now, it's lovely.

Have a great time (shopping and at the event!)

drywhiteplease · 17/02/2012 19:18

Outfit sounds fab....can anyone link a similar top,I think I need one !

willybreeder · 17/02/2012 19:51

Please dont do pink n white nails, lots of great inexpensive beige/gry colours about. If you can get a friend/salon to put a couple of individual lashes on corners on eyes and you will feel instantly glam. Plum colour lipstick/gloss (not too dark, try MAC plumful) suits most people . Have fun Smile

threeisthemagicnumber · 17/02/2012 20:23

Top was given to me by a lovely friend drywhite and I think it's a couple of years old.

I dont get out much and rarely to something this exciting so really appreciate all your help making sure I feel fab Grin

Here's a question for you lot re nail varnish...sorry going off on a tangent...but am going for informal dinner with clients tomorrow pm,at their house.outfit fine but they have 2 teenage daughters and doing nails now.........love dark ESP Dior Excus (sludge khaki, brown with gold tinge)....was going to play safe a la Middleton but hearing your comments, wondering whether to use my fav....or am I trying too hard?(am not 33) but fairly with it fashion wise...".

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/02/2012 20:45

Sounds gorgeous and why no to hoops - I love big hoops - am I irredeemably towie.

Also wearing chanel particuliere varnish for a change and forget how much I love it. Chanel April - would look lovely with your outfit.

KateSpade · 17/02/2012 20:49

Because Hoop's are horrendous..

I don't even think the towie crew wear them that often? Amy childs doesn't count...

Why No to pink and whites?

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/02/2012 20:55

Well I like hoops.

Do you mean like a french manicure? Because thats a bit last century isn't it Wink

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/02/2012 20:59

Oh where is your beaded 20's style top from - sounds gorgeous . . .

AmberNectarine · 17/02/2012 20:59

Hoops not so bad but feather earrings more the thing.

French mani v passé, and as I said a bit too Middleton. Particuliere one of my faves too MrsCB, wore it on my toes for my wedding day. Fancy June next...

KateSpade · 17/02/2012 21:05

Yeah, I just think its neat, and doesn't chip. Easy peasy.

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/02/2012 21:07

Quick perusal of nap means a 'no' to feather ear-rings here but I am aged and will stick with my diamonds or hoops or chandeliers - some pretty drops on there though.

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/02/2012 21:08

Yes I see for gel/shellace - french mani has its advantages. Reason I didn't like the 30 day manicure when I had it done was the too obvious re-growth.
