Help....jeans for very skinny 14 year old boy

Please can you tell me where to get jeans for a very skinny 14 year old boy? I must have had about 12 pairs from Next directory in slim fit but the skinny fit make him look way to thin and the ordinary ones are swamping him and look awful. Need to head out on to the High St to try some on but don't know where to go. He isn't especially short but hasn't had his growth spurt yet so men's sizes are out of the question. Any ideas please?

I have a 12 yo with the same issues, I ended up taking a waist and a leg measurement and hitting ebay, sometimes you can get what you want there and then but other times it at least tells you what shops to check out.

I have tended to get things like Levi or Ben Sherman as they come in the right sizes but your son might be a different shape.

DS1 is 12 and skinny. Debenhams are very good for that shape. DS1 has a Blue Zoo pair.

H & M children's clothes are long and thin, but i don't know if this is true of their teenage clothes.

nbee84 · 16/02/2012 08:36

Used to buy my teenager the skinny fit from H&M, they're not too skinny. They do lots of different styles for boys.

Magicmayhem · 16/02/2012 08:52

my skinny 13 year old gets his from top man...

Sparklingbrook · 16/02/2012 08:54

What sizes do they go from in Top Man Magic?

BettyBathroom · 16/02/2012 08:56

H&M for us too - still not skinny enough - the skinny looks baggy on my dcs!

bunjies · 16/02/2012 09:06

H&M are good for our skinny boy and also some styles in Boden. I usually get them via ebay as can't afford new. I know you said High St but if you buy new you at least get free returns if they don't fit. Also Zara can be ok but not so keen on the quality.

Magicmayhem · 16/02/2012 09:11

not sure SB... but they go in waist sizes... (he's still asleep and I don't want to go grovelling arround his floor in the dark looking for them without a hard hat and a safety harness)

TheOneWithTheHair · 16/02/2012 09:13

I take my ds 15 to h&m too. Loads of different styles for teenage boys.

Trizelda · 16/02/2012 09:50

Thanks...will dig him out of bed and see how we get on!

Laredoute have jeans with 3 different 'width' types, for regular, slim kids and larger. Then there is also the style like straight, boot cut etc. they have a chart with all the measurements so you can get the perfect fit but I actually found the fit was too perfect for my DS and there was no growing room. So would size up on the length next time.

Milliways · 16/02/2012 10:43

Debenhams worked for us too, all the way to age 16+ when he suddenly grew another 6 inches taller when he moved to Republic & Burton.

badtasteflump · 16/02/2012 10:48

Have also bought skinny jeans for very skinny teen from Topman - have definitely bought 28" waist size from there before although he's bigger now.

Levi's are also good but can't remember style no., sorry.

nbee84 · 16/02/2012 17:10

Did you have a successful shopping trip Triz?

BellaVita · 16/02/2012 17:17

TopMan start at waist 28. We get DS1's from there.

coffeeinbed · 16/02/2012 17:30

Topshop girls jeans.
My DS wore those for years.

Trizelda · 16/02/2012 22:15

Yes...bingo! Topman waist 28, leg 30 (apparently smaller sizes available online).
So relieved....his existing ones are half way up his leg and wouldn't have thought to look for men's sizes yet. Thanks all!

Is 28 really that skinny for a teen boy? My DH is 40 and just fits into a 30. I thought you meant really tiny.

Trizelda · 16/02/2012 23:41

Well compared to his friends he is very skinny and age 14 jeans fall off him but he needs them for the length. I guess going by waist and length size is the way to go rather than standard sizes for age.

The 28's fell of my DS at 14 - he wore Debenhams age 12's!

He is now a 5'11 beanpole and can get away with 28''s with a good belt Grin (His Dad wore 28''s until mid 30's. and he is now 46 and wears a 32'' and considers himself fat!

seeker · 17/02/2012 14:42

Have you tried Zara? Or Gap?

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 17/02/2012 21:28

I see this being as what lies ahead for my ds1. He is 5 and fits into age 2 but he is getting too tall now. He only weighs 1lb more than his 2 year old brother. I get their clothes from H&M because everything else is too square shaped.

PastGrace · 17/02/2012 22:17

Glad you found some.

There was a boy at uni who used to buy his skinny jeans from the Primark women's section because apparently "they are a better fit on my legs. Men's ones just don't cling in the right way"

Might be worth a look if ever you need some again. I imagine they are much cheaper than Topman.

Trizelda · 18/02/2012 11:37

My 14 year old weighs 6 and half stone but doesn't stop him playing rugby! He is a real tin ribs as my nan would say! So thinking about it I am surprised that he came out as a 28in waist??
