What is the best way to make long hair look somewhat styled and shapely on a daily basis? I have a typical long layered style that must be blowdryed to prevent frightening frizz wave effect, but that just doesn't seem like enough - it is still losing its shape and waves appear in the wrong places.

Must I use straighteners? Or is there some other magic heat solution?

Everyone swears by the Babyliss Big Hair. I've got one (but haven't got the hang of it yet) but might be worth having a look.

Second the Babyliss big hair. I have had mine for two weeks and love it!

Do you have a fringe? I don't like my Big Hair thing so never use it. I find that if I blow dry my fringe properly my hair looks sleek all day.

BBH Definitely. And if you want a bit more volume, BBH followed by heated rollers.

Also morroccan oil to calm frizz

Ok, I had wondered about that big hair thing. Monkey - I have a longish side swept fringe and agree it makes all the difference when it hangs correctly. Lately it has been getting funny waves though - think I need a trim and a bbh!

Oh, and what is the best type of styling brush for blowdrying long hair? I have a vented brush to straighten and a smallish rounded brush to style the layers. Would a paddle brush or big rounded brush be better?

I'd go with a big rounded brush-my hair's long and layered and I get loads more root volume with a huge round brush than a paddle

I have the BBH which is great in giving added swish but for more volume and va va voom I always use heated rollers.
