Who makes the nicest, best quality plain, long sleeved tshirts?

salamanda · 13/02/2012 12:13

They need to be long or three quarter sleeved, long in the body so they wrinkle up nicely at the bottom rather than always needing to be pulled down, ifkwim, material not too thick or too thin, lovely colours... Oh and tight, not loose or 'curve skimming'. Thanks!

American apparel

QueenCadbury · 13/02/2012 12:49

I wouldn't say that Dorothy Perkins are the nicest best quality around but they are long in the body and not too clingy and wash well.

Rosa · 13/02/2012 12:53

try lands end

sonicrainboom · 13/02/2012 13:46

Land's end is often good.
Don't buy from American Apparel!

Gah sonicrainboom that link was NSFW! I will read it with interest later though.

Thank you for the recs. QueenCadbury one of my fave tshirts is from DP, the fit and length are perfect, but it's gone rather bobbly now :(

American Apparel should be banned for pornographic advertising imho. And the t-shirts feel really cheap and horrible anyway.

M&S Limited Collection used to do fantastic ones (though only in a v limited colour range) but seem to have stopped doing them in favour of vile things salvaged from a 1980s roller disco.

Gap quality is shocking now, so no good.

So I will watch with interest - as I REALLY need some! But I want 'curve skimming' not tight.

EldonAve · 13/02/2012 16:03

H&M?

Boden?

BrianButterfield · 13/02/2012 17:38

I have one of these in white and it's very good quality (well, compared to the Primark one it replaced!). DP also pretty good.

JoantheFennel · 13/02/2012 17:39

Sainsburys

stinkyfluffycat · 13/02/2012 17:45

I just got some nice ones from Warehouse website. They have a 'Jersey tops' section so they're all together, you don't have to click through page after page of blouses & vests to find what you're looking for like some sites.
They're a good length on me and I'm 5'9" (no accidental belly exposure!), nice thick soft fabric, and the fit is good.

stinkyfluffycat · 13/02/2012 17:46

Just read that back and 'accidental belly exposure' sounds like I sometimes deliverately expose my belly. I don't. Small children would cry if I did...

SickOnMyShoulder · 13/02/2012 18:50

these are fab

Bienchen · 13/02/2012 18:53

Boden and Roxy are my current favourites, top marks for length, keeping shape, no bobbling.

Primark does fab long t's with short or long sleeves. Strange but true.

TheMonster · 13/02/2012 20:52

Guildan

imoanruby · 13/02/2012 20:53

Boden - the Hamptons are fab - last forever, good quality and wash great.

Hattie11 · 13/02/2012 21:44

GAP definitely! i'm wearing one now.

DontCallMeMummyPig · 13/02/2012 21:46

Tesco. Seriously.

PerryCombover · 13/02/2012 21:48

American apparel make good long sleeved long body tees. Material is VAIR nice REMUS

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/02/2012 21:52

Not the ones I felt in Selfridges today - they felt horrible: really thin and they looked sort of old and pre-worn too. I wasn't at all impressed tbh. Then again, I like a bit of structure in a t-shirt, so was probably looking in the wrong place to be fair.

PerryCombover · 13/02/2012 21:56

They do thinner and thicker materials and decent Henley types if you like that sort of thing. I had never seen anything in the shop but friend wears all the time and I order off t'inters and have been happy thus far.
The shops always seem like a run down branch of Pineapple Studios

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/02/2012 22:00

Yes to Pineapple studios - I kept thinking I should burst into a rendition of, 'Fame' as I looked around.
