Adult Wellies - do your hunters last??

wadadlis · 09/02/2012 16:44

I have had 2 pairs of hunters in 2 years. The first pair split along a seam and I got wet feet, the second pair (only 8 weeks old) now have just got a hole in the heel.

I have a dog and probably wear them for 2 hours a day, every day. They tell me on the phone that this is heavy use, but surely just in 8 weeks they should not have a hole?

I have no proof of purchase as both pairs were gifts.

Is it just me, or are hunters rubbish?

And if so what should I buy instead?? I like the colours of the hunters, and I like the fact that they are slim fitting as my legs are now my only decent feature, and also that they are taller than others.

Bit stuck really and very cross with hunter!!

There was a recent thread on Hunter wellies.

Many better alternatives were suggested. As the proud owner of a yet to be worn set of Hunter wellies I am hoping they will last more than a year.

that's really helpful, thanks. Now I know that I am in good company!

Suggest you wear your new hunters with another pair of wellies on top :)

I've had my Hunters ages - no probs at all

I have had my Hunters nearly a month and remain unworn and unsulied. Still wearing my old garden centre ones. The Hunters will last ages if I only wear them for best!

The new ones are made in China or somewhere like that. Ok for kids for festivals but not for serious welly wearers. Try aigle or le chameau but there not cheap.

Or try ebay for the ones made in scotland - it says so on the label rather than just Hunter. Those ones last forevet. Ive got two pairs - 15 & 7 yo each. DHs are older I think

If you want fantastic warm comfortable waterproof boots that last forever you want Muck Boots. They are fantastic, all us horsey people swear by them

Muckboots are good. Borrowed a pair at my brothers - very comfy although bot as stylish as Hunters

i found although my hunters look great/fashionable etc i dont think they are made for heavy use as mine didnt last long either!

I've had my navy-blue pair for almost 5 years; they are still functionally perfect but have developed an odd kind of frosty-glaze so they look pretty beat -up. I've noticed other navy ones around that have done the same thing so maybe avoid that colour?

No they were rubbish, 3 months in and wearing them for dog walking in the country, 5 days a week, wet feet.

Got some from Aigle, although black, lovely style and have lasted years.
