What to wear with 'stone' coloured Chinos?

Mainly I'm struggling with what colours would go with them, I don't normally wear lighter bottoms. I want to purchase some tops and shoes to match but no idea where to start.
If anyone can help me out with some outfits it would be great! Size 8, 5ft, pear shaped figure Grin

You can't go wrong with navy Smile

Pinner35 · 07/02/2012 16:32

Yep, navy every time.

Pinner35 · 07/02/2012 16:32

Not navy shoes though.......

imoanruby · 07/02/2012 16:34

Yes navy and white..

I wear all colours with mine, within the range of colours I suit- pale grey ( yes!), very pale blue, white , taupe, pale aqua, and deeper blues.

I only wear chino type trousers in summer so the tops I wear are T shirts or similar with a short or longer length cardi.

coral or other orangey colours

Black, white, coral, aqua, any shade of blue, baby pink, hot pink, emerald green, olive green, red...just about anything goes with stone.

the ubiquitous breton top

In the Spring, wear them with 'neopolitan' ice cream colours - think strong pastels. I would stay away from navy to be honest - it's a bit too 'I'm afraid of colour'.

Shmiley · 08/02/2012 11:42

Thanks ladies, I was beginning to think I'd made a mistake buying them as no colours go with them! Will definitely be buying lots of pastel colours ready for the spring anyway.

Are there any colours that definitely wouldn't go?

Can't think of any. Some might look a bit meh, but stone is pretty much a perfect neutral.

Ifancyashandy · 08/02/2012 13:10

Not buttercup / daffodil yellow! Eek!

startail · 08/02/2012 13:16

The only problem with stone or olive trousers is that a stone or olive top has to match exactly or be several shades different.
My stone and light olive striped top doesn't quite work with my stone trousers or my pale olive crops, but is fine with much darker ones.

Thank you for the advice! All shopped out now Grin
