bathroom style question

Thinking of replacing bathroom quickly! Can't decide if should have tiles from floor to ceiling or just go for half-way up wall. What do you prefer? Thinking about mouldy walls which have been a problem in recent past. Also with white suite would white tiles make the place look like a nut house?

go for tiles all over!
how about doing whiute tiles with some random coloured ones chucked in?

aside from white suite does your bathroom have a colour scheme?

rey · 23/01/2006 11:17

No colour scheme yet apart from white, can't decide whether to add blue but blue and white for a bathroom would be boring wouldn't it? Haven't got a clue really apart from white. Trying to think what others have but can't remember!

my nan recently had floor to wall tilling in her bathroom and it looks very very nice - she's had a white suite and white tiles then slate grey floor tiles it looks really nice and the darker floors add to it well.

We've done white brick tiles all over , with a victorian blue tile border at waist height. Looks stark but superb. And no more mouldy bits!

fairydust my mum and dad have done white tiles and dark slate floor.

you could also add a dark grey border round top of wall... or as a splashback behind sink/round bath to add more if you wanted

We have white tiling floor to ceiling , white suite and grey speckly vinyl flooring. Accessoriseed with Chrome bits and pieces. It looks really light and airy. Used larger than standard tiles.

well the only fixed bit of chroie is the heated towel rail, rest could easily be switched over and have muted it slightly with natural linen basket. Love the reflective quality and it is easy to maek it look smart and clean by just polishing over with e-cloth.

Ours is painted on one wall, tiled to half height round bath, basin, loo, full height in shower cubicle, white with occasional random royal blue ones.
We tried a border and it just looked... wrong.
Floor is off-white vinyl tiles (v cheap) from Wickes.
Looks great, esp with blue towels.

Make sure the taps are nice - they make such a difference and can be v expensive to 'add on' afterwards.
We got a B&Q 'Take Away' suite, whose name I've forgotten, which had the most lovely swan-necked mixer on the basin and was bargainously cheap. Pic here (before tiling and painting)

thanks for the before pic Badger.

Thinking so far... it looks like a nice blue to break up the white. I was wondering about chrome fittings but wondering how soon it would date too. But what's the alternative right now.
