I've got the kind of hair that needs a good blow dry and when it's had a quick once over by me in a rush looks like straw out a midden. Also fat with specks! Never have time in morning for makeup.
Fed up looking like this!
Please help.

but once it's done in the morning it's done for the rest of the day.

yes, but what if you aren't going anywhere other than the school run? And my prob is that I don't have time in the mornings, unless I got up earlier which I'm not going to do!

agree with teh codster - come on, I've got 3 kids under 5 that I get out the house for 8.30 and I ALWAYS have make up on and hair done(ish). You could look smarter by switching jeans/joggers/trainer combo for skirt and boots. Easy. i was told I looked glamorous this morning and I'm sure it's just cos I had a skirt on!

I might have 3 small boys but I don't want to look like i do!

NomDePlume · 23/01/2006 11:36

make up may well be fab, but there are some people who don't choose wear it, for whatever reason - don't like the look, don't feel it's necessary, their skin doesn't like it, they don't have time or shock horror, maybe they don't think they look like heinous dogs without it ! And before you say it.... they are not all dowdy, deluded, trolls

GDG · 23/01/2006 11:37

Some people look OK without make up - I've noticed that. But, er, well most do not!

are you Marge Simpson in RL, fishface ?

GDG · 23/01/2006 11:38

i am red - one cheek has gone red and flushed since having ds3 and it's not gone - a bit like acne but not bumpy or spotty. Can't get away without foundation now.

Kelly1978 · 23/01/2006 11:40

lol, I'm not vain enough to wear makeup purely because I'm 'existing'. I don't think I look crap neither. Like gdc says, if you wear decent clothes then you can look good, and I think that is possible without putting a load of slap on!

BudaBabe · 23/01/2006 11:40

I find that when I do make the effort - whcih is most days to be fair - I feel better in myself. It;s not for the other Mums, it's not for DS (although I would hate him to be slagged off for the state of his Mum) and it's not for DH. It's for ME. It makes me feel better.

I have a shower, wash hair, dress and apply a tinted moisturiser (Tesco Skin Wisdom is nice) mascara, and coloured lip gloss. Voila - 20 mins. Then quickly dry hair - well aim hairdryer at it!

NomDePlume · 23/01/2006 11:41

I agree, kelly.

Agree buda - it's not really about what other people think I look like tbh, but I dn't want to feel like a bag lady!

Kelly1978 · 23/01/2006 11:42

lol, u don't even know me! How can you say I look rough?

NomDePlume · 23/01/2006 11:42

I don't bother with make up every day but I cannot leave the house without showering, washing my hair and combing it, even if i just shove it up in an elastic.

Blimey cod, I'd like to see the image you have of me, cos u are way off the mark!

nutcracker · 23/01/2006 11:53

I am a bit in the middle with this. I do always do my makeup but my hair is generally crap, cos I can only do it properly if I wash it and blow dry it before it is straightned, and we don't have a shower, so no time to do it properly.

My clothes let me down to. I can never decide which look i am going for so end up in jeans and a plain top. Got a nice coat though.

Blu · 23/01/2006 11:57

What? You are supposed to look presentable and scrubbed up for the 9am drop off?
I usually have my breakfast on the way, my hair 'product' and any make-up I might be planning for the day in my bag ready to apply once I arrive at work,
Oh well, I will carry on as I didn't mean to start, and provide a comfort zone for Mums who are not taking part in the school gate cat walk!

puff · 23/01/2006 12:53

I look fab with just some cream blusher on (the mac ones are brilliant)

have invested time in the evenings on my skincare routine which has paid dividends

keeping eyebrow tidy and groomed helps - well plucked eyebrows make you eyes look much bigger. M&S do a clever eyebrow shaping kit, so they look v professional

ssd · 23/01/2006 16:23

It's my hair that lets me down.

If I scrunch it dry it goes nice and curly, but that takes time. If I blow dry it with a brush it goes all kinky and wavy and dried up and looks a mess. If I tie it back I look worse.

I'd love long thick STRAIGHT hair with no kinks!
