I've looked at North Face etc, but want something a little less 'utilitarian'. Any suggestions?

I am watching this.
I have a short Northface and a long Berghaus but fancy a change.

I like this. Sweaty Betty also did a lovely 1940's style ski jacket this year, but I can't see it now on their website.

I have this one

noddyholder · 05/02/2012 14:53

i have this It has a waist and if I wear it with a black beanie leggings and boots it does look quite glam. I took the hood off straight away and it has a high neck which is very flattering. Really warm too. Quite prada looking

noddyholder · 05/02/2012 14:54

mrs cb what is the fir like on that black barbour? TIA

noddyholder · 05/02/2012 14:54

fit even!

SixtyFootDoll · 05/02/2012 14:55

I have a belted one from mango, sim to this www.johnlewis.com/295720/Product.aspx

I think the mango one is sold out, I only paid £80 for it and it's so warm as duck down filled.

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/02/2012 14:55

Well I'm 5ft and size 8 and it fits perfectly - I tie the belt though rather than do it up properly.

I tend to find barbours pretty true to size if anything a little on the small side.

Its very toasty and looks lovely on - have had many compliments when wearing it.

FoofFighter · 05/02/2012 15:07

I'm lusting after this one but it's £300 Shock

Also love Rab jackets they are feather light and sooooo toasty but I don't think there's a longish one and again they are pricey.

MrsSeanBean · 05/02/2012 15:10

Thanks everyone.

Mrs CB - is the Barbour's hood detachable?

Sixty Foot - I like the Chesca, would prefer without fur collar though.

This is really nice too www.drjays.com/shop/P1166295/kenneth-cole/oxford-nylon-belted-coat.html

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/02/2012 15:20

Yes it is - so for the milder weather I didn't wear it but its been on permanently for the past couple of months. I have the black but the olive is lovely too.

Mrsrobertduvall · 05/02/2012 15:25

I can't do belts as I look like a sack of potatoes.
Also at 6 feet tall, the belt ends up just under my bust.

Pseudonymity · 05/02/2012 15:34

I was going to recommend the Barbour one that MrsCB linked to. They seem to be sold out everywhere. Will look out for one next year.

Have seen the Sweaty Betty ones in the flesh, nice and on sale at the moment. They are not down filled, however they are waterproof. They are not very bulky, don't know what this means as far as warmth goes but I assume they are warm as they are meant for skiing.
