Where can I find a nice, short party dress?

I have a 40th party to go to week after next and would like a new frock. I'm looking for something short (but not indecent) as I have no cleavage and reckon my legs are probably my best feature!

I don't want a classic LBD as black drains what little colour I have at this time of year from my face.

I would have said that dress looks quite day-time. ASOS have some gorgeous dresses (theirs and branded) - what body shape are you (athletic, hourglass etc), size and skin tone?

Although I don't want black, it is an evening party and I always think of the paler colours as being more daywear (maybe just me). Will have a trawl through the 600 shorter dresses on their site now.....

Guess it could be a bit day time. Back to the drawing board.....

I am a size 8 most places and I suppose athletic - lacking curves anyway. Brunette and fair (read washed out) skin tone. I generally think I suit blues, teals, purples.
