ok i am so out of fashion its unreal - before i was preg i was wearing bootcut jeans now my baby is 4 months and ive just realised they r out and ditched them around christmas got myself some nice skinnies and chords etc.

but i need a makeover. i need to know:

1 are leggings still ok or are they considered very casual like tracksuit bottomy?
2 is grey still in? like grey tops, shoes, boots etc. i quite like grey and don't want to start getting stuff if its on its way out. it goes with purple which i have a lot of.
3 i want to start wearing skirts but not too dressy as afterall im not doing anything except minding the baby! any ideas whats in? denim mini? with calf high boots? any other ideas please r welcome
by the way i am 30 years old! and have an appley shape figure :)

  1. Leggings are fine as long as they are good quality (not see-thru or baggy) and you wear a bum covering top.
  2. Grey will be in forever. It is a classic colour. It also goes well with the 'brights' that are in this spring (red/orange/yellow/aqua) though you may want to consider navy as that is 'in' too although they are calling in 'ink'
  3. Flat knee boots (biker/cowboy/work boot style) dress down any dress or skirt. Also add a parka in cold weather or a denim or leather jacket on warmer days to toughen up the look. I have successfully worn dresses originally bought to wear at a party or wedding on the school run using these methods. If you are apple shape i'd go for A-line or flared skirts to balance your figure.

oh thank you so much! i really love navy too. and i have some old navy tops i could wear. i think i will have to update my leggings though. believe it or not i still wear (size 8) maternity leggings! i would even buy other maternity leggings 0 i hate things digging into my waist and cos my legs are thin they will fit good.

i have some flat calf length cowboy style boots so just have to get the skirts. im not sure what a parka is (lol) but ill look it up...
looking forward to start making an effort every day it helps you feel good about yourself (as i sit here in my tracksuit with no make up on - one of those days)
thanks again for your response you have honestly cheered me up today! :)

A parka is a coat with a fur trimmed hood, usually khaki green Smile

No go and get your face on and get the to town to buy something lovely! Try Primark for cheap thrills or River Island looks good for skirts at the mo - blue spotted or orange floral

Now not no obviously!

oh the coat sounds lovely - i love the spotty skirt! i might look for a navy spotted skirt :)

fauxfox why flat knee boots? are wedged or heeled no good with leggings then?
I am asking because I wear heeled and wedged with jeggings and leggings, as I am only 5ft.

FauxFox · 03/02/2012 12:47

I just said flat because the OP wanted to wear pretty skirts without looking too dressed up for day-to-day stuff and heeled boots usually look smarter. Wear whatever heel height you like connect all fine with leggings imo Smile

Phew thanks fauxfox

ok so far online i have bought grey knee high cowboy boots, dark grey leggings and a long grey top to be worn over leggings (i don't plan on wearing them all at the same time lol) plus black skinny jeans. feel better already....going to town to look at skirts soon!
