Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser STINKS (literally)

Huge fan of LE, used Cleanse and Polish for 10 years and love the body products and the original moisturiser too. My DSis bought me the Superskin moisturiser for Xmas and I was chuffed to bits but opened it last week and I swear I cannot tolerate the smell. Its like putty or similar?

Wondered if anyone else had experienced this or if its possible "off". Was sealed properly etc. Will contact LE Customer Services but just wondering....

thats weird???? I've had it and its not the nicest smell ever but it's fine

Jessicaalbastwin · 01/02/2012 21:06

Doesn't smell that bad to Me tbh, I have smelt worse, like nv perricone, which smells fishy.

MooMinCow · 01/02/2012 21:15

I found that too with a sample I had. kind of fishy/PVA glue smell - not great! think that's how it smells! It is supposed to be fragrance free. I used it up as night cream mixed with a drop or two of the Superskin concentrate oil to mask the whiff Grin

gregssausageroll · 01/02/2012 22:08

I don't really think mine smells of anything but I will check. BRB.

Lilymaid · 01/02/2012 22:19

I think it smells like castor oil. I love other Liz Earle products but couldn't bear to put Superskin on my skin. I use the ordinary moisturiser (without strange smell) and it is fine for my supposedly mature skin.

Gillybobs · 01/02/2012 22:33

Thanks for the feedback

Just had a reply from LE with a length explanation of the "fragrance free" aspect of this product. I get the feeling they've had this sort of issue before with it : )

I really cant stand the smell. Such a shame as every other LE product Ive tried has smelled wonderful and I find that part of the pleasure of using it

They are offering an exchange which is great, going to swap for C&P and some ordinary moisturiser

Thanks again

Mine doesn't smell of anything I don't think but good to see LE customer service is as good as ever however, has anyone realised how expensive the stuff is getting now?

Gillybobs · 01/02/2012 22:43

Yep, its been creeping up. Moisturiser (normal one) was £14 ish for years. Now £18.50. I think its still competitive mind you

Can't you put a drop of essential oil in it to make it smell nicer?

skandi1 · 04/02/2012 18:28

It's the borage oil which makes it smell a bit fishy.

Jammygal · 04/02/2012 20:19

Makes me itch like hell......but never had any probs with her other stuff x

strictlovingmum · 05/02/2012 01:50

It is meant to be used in conjunction with superskin concentrate for the best results, but also to help with smell Smile
IMO it does the job, so well worth putting up with it, if you can stick with it,in return you will gain beautiful skin in about two weeks, honestly it is unreal how good the product is.

Thanks for this post on Liz Earle superskin night cream. I was wondering if the smell was a problem only for me. It is an excellent moisturizer but the smell is awful. I may also try and get a refund as not sure i can stand the smell.😀
