This dress with leggings?

I am tempted to get this dress in the red.

I am wondering about wearing it with leggings / footless tights (black?) with ballet pumps or maybe my calf height biker boots (black).

Would that work for a party do you think? I am trying to think of ways of wearing a dress with flat shoes / boots!

Lovely dress. I would wear it with black opaques and either shoe boots, a slim ankle boot or flats. I think knee highs would spoil the look of the dress. That's just my opinon.

Thank you.

So, I've been looking some more and wondered with going with the above advice and wearing black opaques....with these

Any comments good and bad welcome....I am thick skinned!

Goodness those shoes were not quite what I expected when I clicked on the link. I personally wouldn't wear them but I do have quite boring classic dress sense so perhaps not the most able to advise! I do think they look a bit fancy dress though, sorry.

yellowraincoat · 01/02/2012 15:12

Good God those shoes are AWFUL.

The dress is nice, but I think leggings look a bit boring these days. I'd go for thick woolly tights instead.

Almondroca · 01/02/2012 17:45

Lol!! Ok, I will go for more conventional.

Gorgeous dress, but don't like the shoes at all, sorry Blush

I would go with footless tights and pretty sparkly pumps (but as my 12yo dd has informed me many times, I am "grannyish" in my tastes!)

tethersend · 01/02/2012 18:52

Awful shoes, no. Just no.

I would wear red tights and black patent boots like this.

But then I would go for the full on sixties look.

Almondroca · 01/02/2012 19:22

Pretty sparkly pumps is probably where I'm going now. I do like the idea of the boots tethersend but my calves wouldn't fit in those boots Sad.

I had those shoes back in my teenage goth days....they are the most uncomfortable shoes in the entire world and make you walk funny.

I gave them to a friend. Glad to see the back of them.

mrscumberbatch · 01/02/2012 21:08

This is what i'd wear with the dress

Adds a bit of interest to a block colour outfit. I would wear black tights, I have never seen anyone look decent in red tights.

HavePatience · 01/02/2012 21:10

I love those shoes! Blush
But would never have the balls to wear them.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 01/02/2012 21:20

Dress nice. Shoes not. If you like a platform try these which are gorgeous in black patent and really comfortable too.

Almondroca · 01/02/2012 21:31

My husband agreed with you all (except me and HavePatience!!) and doesn't like the shoes.

Liking those DMs! Tempted...

I really love those Fly boots too - but again calves too big I should think.

Grin my dh doesn't like the shoes, either. I've just realised that this is S&B. I just saw it in active convos. I don't think I'm allowed here... For obvious reasons. :)

Almondroca · 01/02/2012 21:36

Lol! My husband just looked horrified at the zebra DMs too! Oh well.

You wear what you like almond. Bugger everyone else Grin

FaffTastic · 01/02/2012 22:19

Hate the shoes and please don't wear the dress with leggings. Black tights in either 60,80 or 100 denier. If you dont heels, boots, pumps or wedges would look good
