Which shoes/boots do you wear with bootcut jeans?

I have a pair of bootcut jeans (the mumsy SHAME of it all!) and I just wondered if there is any point in keeping them, I live in skinny jeans these days. HOWEVER they were expensive (seven for all mankind) a few years back and don't look bad on, I just have no idea what if anything looks "right" to wear on my feet with them without looking like a clown/pointy toed triangle feet etc

Genuinely curious to know what works for others!

I have a pair of straight boot cut from 7 For All Mankind. Mine are the ones that are tight on the thigh and a very narrow boot cut - I wear them 'scruffily' with either Vans, Keds or my Hi-tops (I am 42 and have a trainer obsession!). They sit slightly too long, over the top of my heel. I pretend I am in a Charlie Brown cartoon!

Don't get rid of them!! I still wear mine which are citizens of humanity which I love. Admittedly I don't wear them that often but it does tend to be in spring/summer with ballet pumps or converse. I do have a rather lovely pair of cowboy type boots from russell and bromley which look fab with them but I just look a bit of a plonker down the park with the children in them.

JasperJohns · 31/01/2012 20:02

I don't have any bootcuts, but yours sound relatively shameless OP!

I'd say anything like Converse/flats and avoid the mum boot. It's when you add a heel that they start to look tragic.

monkeysmama · 31/01/2012 20:05

Depending on the cut they can be flattering with a summer wedge as long as they're not ankle swingers. I had some caramel Lovestory rips off ones this summer and they look really flattering in photos.

CointreauVersial · 31/01/2012 21:06

I don't wear them often, but if it's winter I wear them with some flat brown chelsea boots, and in the summer with ballet flats or flip flops.

Ditto what monkeysmama says - if they are long enough, wedge sandals look nice.

Mine certainly aren't a brand to be proud of - one pair are Warehouse hand-me-downs from SIL who got too fat for them, and one pair are Blush Per Una.

FaffTastic · 31/01/2012 21:26

If they are long enough, wedges or thin high heeled (not block heeled) boots that don't quite have a round toe but not quite pointy either iykwim. I find that block heels automatically look frumpy with boot cuts.

Gillybobs · 31/01/2012 21:54

I have one pair too and as they are fairly long I wear them with heeled brogues. Seems to work well, particularly if I wear a cream vintagey type blouse on my top half.

Emo, defo keep them, there are loads of boot cuts in the shops again. Co-incidentally, I have discussed on my blog just yesterday

I look taller and skinnier in them due to being pear shaped. Always wear mine with heels, not so keen on flats with boot cuts myself. Yours sound lovely and they're a great make so do keep them!

Bootcuts suit me. I only wear them with converse at this time of year, though may move into snow boots if the cold continues. I'm 48 next week but am proud to say I've never been anywhere near mumboot territory.

QueenCadbury · 01/02/2012 08:08

I wear mine all the time with converse. Admittedly I've been doing that for the past 20 years since sixth form but somehow it still works for me.

Otherwise, the FB page was just set up the other day...
School Gate Style FB Page. I have no likers yet as I am so scared about sharing it with my RL friends...what a wimp!
