Hi

Looking to try a new serum. Usually use Olay Regenerist, but thought I would try something else. Price up to about £25, so none of these crazily priced ones! I've tried Boots Protect & Perfect and didn't like that. Skin type is pretty dry / dehydrated.

Any thoughts much appreciated!

Hmmm...okay, I get the time restraint thing. Could you do this:

Liz Earle C&P,
Toner (20 secs and arguably the most IMPORTANT step)
Ultrasun face spf30

the cleanse and polish is moisturising and the cloth is exfoliating. It also takes off eye make-up so you don't need a seperate eye make-up remover. Can be done in 30 secs-1min.

Toner takes 20 secs - on a cotton pad, swept over face and neck. It is important as it restores your PH balance - water is not your skin's friend!! It also removes any residue from the cleanser.

Ultrasun spf 30. This is a moisturiser and spf all in one. It comes in an anti ageing formula too, which has won awards in normal skincare catagories, and is photo-stable (so the protection doesn't diminish during the day. I only use ultrasun spfs as they are waterproof and last 8 hours (literally put it on at 7am on holiday, out in 40degree heat, fully protected with no reapplication - it is the best!). Anyway, it is a great moisturiser, esp the anti ageing, and sinks in just as quickly as a regular moisturiser.

Voila, easy routine that takes less time than brushing your teeth.

PS - during the minter I get my spf from my Bare Minerals - it is spf15 and it really works. I used to live in Brighton and the one day that I didn't wear my minerals was the day I went very pink (with those embarassing white panda eyes from my sunnies). It wasn't the sunniest/hottest day - I just didn't have my make-up on.

accesorizequeen: rosehip oil at night is great, and is fine alone or before your cream, are you liking it?

accessorizequeen · 03/02/2012 15:46

Thanks mrsmartin, nice of you to think of me!I don't own toner, but do have LE C&P with cloths hooray. Before I had the dts I always wore sunscreen as v fair & from oz but only in summer of late. I shall mooch in my cupboard & see what there is as budget very limited at present. Rosehip oil feels lovely missfoodie, good stuff @ great price IMO! I spose now I'm 42 I ought to try harder, I suspect losing a few stone would help my skin no end too.

Thanks mrsmartin, looked at Liz Earle and they do a trial size so going to give it a go, would love it if I could find something to improve my skin, it seems I was the last to know about skin oils/ serums!

more expensive, but i'm hooked on dr hauschka's regeneration serum... designed for "older" skin. i'm early 40s but am literaly thin skinned. i only use paraben-free

Currently trying EGF Bioeffect serum - v pricey but apparently is a miracle serum- so far i have used it 2 weeks and keep getting compliments for my skin despite being seriously sleep deprived?! Think it must be wishful thinking as its not meant to show effects for a good while like 6 weeks. a bit sticky if you use too much but you dont put moisturiser over it or anything.

MissFoodie · 08/02/2012 17:11

tried EFG also, I think I was impatient and expected some miraculous result within a few days though....!

A great one is Kimia Facial System - a natural serum with no 'nasty' ingredients. It also has an activator. Great for nourishing your skin. Reportedly used by Mrs Beckham!

MissFoodie · 09/02/2012 16:41

lol am testing it at the moment!!!!
review coming soon..........

MissFoodie · 09/02/2012 16:41

but ps its £70 so out of the budget

thepureemporia · 09/02/2012 16:52

Another great one is Essential Care superfruit concentrate, full of antioxidants. It is £33.

thepureemporia · 09/02/2012 16:57

Missfoodie would love to know how you got on with the Kimia Facial System. I hear very good reviews.

MissFoodie · 09/02/2012 16:58

its really nice, takes a few go's to get used to the application which is a bit more convoluted than just slapping it on....!
