Dresses for tall ladies

I wear a lot of dresses and have been challenged by my tall friend to find her one.i thought it would be easy but no.i need your help ladies as I really don't know where to look (I an 5ft 3 she is 5ft9!)
The dress must be chic,not too short and suit an athletic figure with great legs....not too girlie.

I'm 5'9'' and have recently taken to wearing dresses after resisting them for years because of the length - often waists are in totally the wrong place so it's not just the skirt length.

My dresses are from Phase 8, Boden (but don't tell my friends) and Wallis if they aren't made of that self-igniting fabric. I'd have a trundle around John Lewis or similar and try some on, taking opaque tights and shoes with you.

Disclaimer: am probably way older than you, so replace with more age appropriate store!

im 5'9 too and have to say that ive actually found a fair few cracking dresses in tk maxx that fit really well.

Next have a tall range in the directory.

I use next for dresses, they have a tall range. I do find that I have to go down a dress size though.

i'm 5'10 and have a flat chest, broad back and sturdy/athletic, decent legs, and i wear a lot of french connection dresses.

I too feel your friends pain, dresses often don't fit right; shoulder seams too narrow, waist on the rib cage, sleeves too short, hips too high, length not right etc.
