Very confused- could only find bootcut or super skinny type jeans while shopping today?

Admittedly I was in Outfit, but they had smallish concessions of Top Shop, Oasis, Miss Selfridge (or was it Dorothy Perkins?!) and Warehouse.

I could only find jeans in a boot cut or super skinny style.

I thought bootcut were 'out' and there's no way I can wear super skinny- they make my legs look sort of curvy!

I'm probably far too old for Outfit (35), only popped in because it's the closest clothes store to my home. But what is going on? Can't I even buy a pair of jeans these days?

I wanted straight leg- have I missed something? Are there no straight leg jeans anymore?!

I feel your pain and am bumping for you. And for me Grin.
All I want are staight leg jeans. Made of denim. Preferably blue (although I am also eyeing up red ones Blush).
No advice to give though as I am a style-free zone most of the time.

Gap do straight leg jeans.

Gillybobs · 27/01/2012 21:21

Levi Curve ID in classic slim are great straight legs. As are Gap Real Straight. Boden usually do good straight legs too

I'm mortified to find bootcut are out. They're the only thing that used to suit my pre-mummy tummy me. I went shopping for a skirt the other day, must've visited 6 or 7 shops and all I could find were bloody hot pants! I actually bought some skinny jeans a while back for the first time ever but since I've lost a bit more weight they are now baggy - not a good look. I'd love some straight leg jeans or in fact any item that doesn't look like I'm about to muck out the horses but admittedly I've completely lost track of 'fashion' now Blush

That's the thing though- maybe bootcut are back in? There were plenty in every concession in Outfit, along with the skinnies.

Help!!!!

EustaciaVye · 28/01/2012 14:25

I've been looking for some superskinnies :)

mrsmartin · 28/01/2012 18:51

gap are great for straight leg, new look always have boot cut, straight skinny etc. Gap keep their shape forever though- I always grab a couple of pairs in the sale.

Where I live (France), the only people I see in straight-leg jeans are older women (50+). Skinnies are still in fashion here, but boot-cut (which I haven't seen around much over the past 15 years) appear to be making a comeback this year!

Don't forget fashion basically follows a 20-year cycle, so 1992 style is currently your friend :)

owlelf · 28/01/2012 22:55

Is it really ok for someone my age (mid thirties) and size 12/14 to wear skinnies? I'm not being sarcastic here, I am genuinely baffledBlush!

I haven't really tried them but when I look at them in the hanger they scream "skinny, leggy 18 year old only" at me?!

Try them :)
You'll be pleasantly surprised! Just make sure you choose the right top to wear with them...

EustaciaVye · 29/01/2012 09:02

owlelf - skinnies suit me better than anything else and I am 36. I lived in bootcuts but very thin legs meant there was just reams of material and they made me look bigger than I am
