Your recommendations for best ever black ankle leggings?

I'm 5'7" and want them to come down to my ankles. The best ones I ever had were Topshop Maternity when I was pregnant - they were not too thin, not too thick, easy to put on but gripped well (did a great job of turning my wobbly thighs into tighter looking thighs, at least!) flattering round the ankle as no wrinkles, and finished at the ankle with no need to ruch or pull down all the time.

However their ordinary ones seem thinner, with less "grip".

Anyone recommend any they think are great that would fit the bill

TIA!

I've tried some BlushBoden ones at the suggestion of MN and they're great.

I was given a pair of Primark leggings (at Xmas) that are fab. They were packaged like the tights - in fact they are like incredibly thick tights (very thick and opaque) and so don't wrinkle or bag at the knee. I'm 5'7'' and they are plenty long enough. They will probably cost 3 quid or something so they are not going to break the bank if you find you don't like them :)

I have a pair of warehouse leggings from 5 years ago and they have not changed colour at all - still as black as new and never sag! Thats got to be some kind of record.

I agree with the primark suggestion. We don't have a primark here but I managed to get hold of some of the light support leggings via a friend, these are the super thick, totally not see through ones. They've washed brilliantly and absolutely won't sag.

On the other hand the topshop leggings have gone peculiar (bobbling and weird white bits of elastic popping out of the seams).

Boden and Next.

Primark

I'm 5 ft 9 and they are ankle length on moi

Thanks for all the suggestions! I haven't tried Primark, Boden or Next, but I will do. Primark sound good, I do want something more like very thick tight-type leggings as opposed to the thin, wrinkly jersey sort that does no holding in place!

With the Primark ones, do they come up big/small? I am size 12 so between the sizes they do of 8-10 and 12-14....

I usually go up a size so for you I woudl say 12-14

SerenityUndercover · 24/01/2012 20:22

Ah, see I usually go down a size wherever possible (as long as no bulges or muffin tops, of course!) ! I like the snuggest fit I can find that I can actually get in to (that don't roll down at the waist).

Serenity I'm not sure - I chucked the packaging. I think mine will have been small/medium and I'm a thin size 10 but I've got a big arse. I've got plenty of room width and lengthways in these leggings. Thats not particularly helpful :)

pluckingupcourage · 24/01/2012 20:45

The primark ones are very tight and then settle down once you've worn them a few times, so I would suggest to go towards the larger size.

letseatgrandma · 24/01/2012 20:56

The black high waisted leggings from Wallis are absolutely marvellous. They don't go baggy at the knees, they have a wide waistband so don't cut in and wash beautifully. I'm a size 12 and the 'Small' are perfect. I have 3 pairs ;)

Lucyloo81 · 24/01/2012 22:44

I saw the primark ones recommended on here and bought them and at first thought they seemed great but I'm finding they don't stay up too well throughout the day - am I the only one with this problem??

marriednotdead · 24/01/2012 23:30

I've got a lovely thick pair from M&S, label says Indigo if that means anything. I'm 5'6" and have quite long legs- they're perfect. They come in different lengths and were £18 but have been worth every penny.

pluckingupcourage · 24/01/2012 23:55

the primark ones I got are pretty tight but super comfy and there's no way they're going anywhere (dcs find it very amusing to watch me put them on, mind you)
