hair gone from blonde highlights to brunette

I had my blonde bleached highlighted hair dyed brown nearly two weeks ago. I was thrilled with the results. The hairdress had to put red pigment in first and then put on a wella colour afterwards. I did this mainly because I couldn't afford the constant highlighting every month to keep up with regrowth. Only problem is the brown has now started to fade and its only been two weeks. I don't want to go back to having regular salon visits as this is the reason i went dark. I think I know roughly what colour they used, they mentioned a '4' with 6%! but do i have to repigment it again or can i just put the brown straight on now? I love the colour and don't want to spoil it but can't afford to back to h/dressers. Is there any shop bought colour that will work? please help!

No idea about the shop bought colour but just wanted to say that it took my hair at least 4 or 5 visits to the hairdresser to retain the brunette for any proper length of time. Until then it would fade really quickly.

oh dear, not what I wanted to hear. The main reason for doing it was to avoid the salon visits. I knew it would fade but it's done so very quickly. I've been using the tresemme colour protect range and cut down on washing to every other day. I really can't afford to get it done properly again so will have to have a go at home. When you went back to the salon did they repigment yours again or just put the brown tint straight on, ujjayi?

they just put the colour straight on. My hair was in a chin-length bob at the time so quite short but I had been blonde for 10 years by then. Don't know if that makes a difference?
