wellies - find me ones that last!

I'm going insane with wellies, every pair I buy seems to crack or get a hole within 2 months...Sainsburys never last for my children; clarks doodles burst at 3 months; I bought Tractor Ted wellies for Christmas and they've cracked on the heel.
Ok my son wears wellies everyday in the winter and for about two hours a day - more on weekends - but come on, somebody please let me know which brand of a welly to last for one season....is it hunter? I don't mind the extorinate price if they last for a year (or two!)

Thanks

Hunters do not last long and crack where the foot joins the welly, Barbours perish very quickly up the leg and that bit where the foot joins the front ankle.

Aigle and Chameau are excellent especially the ones lined with neoprene, expensive but will last for years.

Dunlop are inexpensive but very tough although they tend to be slightly shorter in the leg.

Sorry, I thought they were for you. Blush

Children's Aigles tear easily. I would go for Dunlop.

Brilliant! Thank you! It's shocking to see how quickly wellies go. I know they encounter water a lot but Grrr..right Dunlop here I come

wow our Hunters last and last! DS is just outgrowing his latest pair, been weraing for a year. They've always lasted him brilliantly, and we go camping etc too

Zideq · 26/01/2012 12:23

Hunters used to last and last but they are now manufactured as fashion items using cheap low cost materials etc.

mollymole · 26/01/2012 12:26

I have had my DUNLOP wellies for over 15 years and they are fine

ah well we don't have any problems here - always do us till DS outgrows then sell on!
