Going Out Dress - I can picture it in my mind but cannot find it!

OK, I am after a dress for going out/parties/posh dos. I know what I want, but haven't spotted it anywhere.

I'm a tall-ish size 10, 45 years old. Ideas on a postcard, please.......

  • Plain colour, maybe red, purple....anything, really
  • Must have sleeves (short or elbow length)
  • No sequins/sparkles
  • Knee length or above
  • Must be slinky/sexy/curvy/glam. Not necessarily body-con, but I'm not a fan of the drapy sack look.
  • I don't want to feel like I got lost on the way to the office (so not plain black)
  • Not too pricy (less than £100 for sure)

This is pretty much spot on, apart from the ££price.

similar

AmberNectarine · 21/01/2012 16:18

How about this?

tethersend · 21/01/2012 16:26

Dorothy Perkins did a copy of that dress, but can't find it now.

Will look for similar.

this?

CointreauVersial · 21/01/2012 17:25

Noddy - I like that one, looks quite "classic"

Amber - looks way too clingy and skimpy for me; I think I'd be forever tugging at it.

Slug - hmmm...not sure, but it might be one of those dresses you have to try on to get the best impression.

If the LK Bennett one wasn't so far above what I want to spend I might regard it as an investment. Anyway, good start, good start...

This one from Pure looks nice to me!

SilveryMoon · 21/01/2012 18:11

Oooohhhhh, pleased I've seen this.
I'm due to go out in a few weeks and need something nice.
Celia That dress is lovely! Might go for that one. Just need shoes and a bag.

Clure · 21/01/2012 18:15

seen the DP one, but think its in the petite range
how about this one
this

Dollydowser · 21/01/2012 21:24

another ASOS

CointreauVersial · 21/01/2012 21:31

Oooo, thanks everyone, lots of lovely ASOS numbers to choose from! Although they all look particularly lovely because they are being modelled by a size 8 pencil with no underwear.

Clure, that first one is a pretty blatant copy of the Davina dress, but at £40 worth a try. Do you know if ASOS is true to size?

I quite like the Pure one from Celia, but not really what I'm after.

The Coast satin ones are lovely too, Tethers, but possibly a bit glitzy.

I think Clure's Asos Davina copy is the best.

Asos true to size if not a little large IME.

CointreauVersial · 21/01/2012 21:52

Excellent. I feel an ASOS order coming on. Thanks folks.

asos deliver very fast and free returns so always worth an order. I usually find their sizing ok, although struggle being a petite 5'1 with the length!!
