Could you let me know what you think of this dress please?

I like the style (think it would disguise big tummy & chunky thighs) but not sure about colour/pattern. I am a size 16/18 and currently wearing a lot of long skirts/baggy tops - trying to lose weight!
What would you wear with it, and if you don't like it any other ideas for me?
Thank you for all your help.

No, but then I am old enough to remember my mum wearing that! The shape is nice (but unforgiving), the pattern is too 70s' wall paper.
You can get away with it if you are a teenager or a punk.

Something shaped like that or this would be better at hiding tummy and thighs.

personally not keen....

what sort of body shape are you?

Wallis have some gorgeous dresses that i think would disguise a tummy - ill link a few

OP - You know you only like it cos it is cheap!

Thumbwitch · 21/01/2012 15:38

gak! that needs a sunglasses-required warning on it. Far too seventies-mum-dress for me as well. The pattern is just awful, sorry. I don't care if sixties/seventies wallpaper patterns are being revived - they shouldn't be! People took a lot of hallucinogenic drugs back then so the patterns probably didn't hurt as much...

tethersend · 21/01/2012 15:40

LOVE it.

But I must tell you, I am sitting in a room decorated with 70s wallpaper. In a 70s dress.

I think it will be very flattering, looks very DVF.

I would wear with black opaques and platforms or boots like this or this

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 21/01/2012 15:48

Leaving the pattern aside, I disagree with tether, the dress is viscose it will hang at all the bits and bumps. The shirt-dress can be flattering in very heavy cotton, but def. not in that kind of material.

I like it too Would look terrible on me you need to be skinny

Hombly · 21/01/2012 22:18

Thank you all for the honesty & especially for the links to alternative dresses. Think I might go have a look in Wallis ...

I'ld wear it, have a few like it

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 21/01/2012 22:32

This is pretty and cheap and cleverly draped around the tum.

I quite liked the first one but couldn't wear it as it's too severe for me - you might suit a more dramatic style though.
Liking Dottie P's atm.
