Why don't my skinny jeans stay up?

IAmRubyLennox · 20/01/2012 08:57

I have one pair of jegging type whatsits, one pair of skinny jeans and another pair of non-jean skinny trousers. Whenever I wear any of them they drive me insane, after a couple of hours wear they're half way down my bottom and I have to find quiet corners to hike them up. Repeatedly.

Are they too big? Too small? Is it because I have no waist? I don't have this with jersey stretch leggings, only the more substantial trouser type.

And if I am just not physiologically compatible with skinnies, what the heck do I wear with tunic style tops?

Bum not big enough?

Acanthus · 20/01/2012 09:05

Put a belt on.

SimoneD · 20/01/2012 10:31

This happened to me alot. I found that buying a size smaller in jeggings, skinnies works. As there quite stretchy they usually fit better for some reason

Fo0ffyShmo0ffer · 20/01/2012 10:35

I have this with any Jeans that have Elastane in them no matter how small the percentage. After a while they just give and then that's it. Driven mad all day.

seeker · 20/01/2012 10:41

Because you're so beautifully slim. There is that what you wanted to hear? Grin

BroomForMyChin · 20/01/2012 10:43

Mine do this too. I think it's because the size i buy to fit my huge thighs and bum is too big for my waist. Are you pear shaped?

herbaceous · 20/01/2012 10:49

And me. Drives me batty. Doesn't happen with baggier jeans, or leggings, so it seems the particular stiffness/stretch ratio with skinny jeans is the fatal combination. I've also changed shape since having DS, and my arse has gone flat, with fat now congregating on a shelf above, which feels like it's preventing the jeans from coming up again.

I could try going down a size, but have massive knees, which would probably not fit in the smaller version.

lolfish1 · 20/01/2012 12:47

Had this! Solved it with those new Levis Curve ID ones in demi curve (try bold if you're more of an hourglass shape).

QuietOhSoQuiet · 20/01/2012 12:51

It sadly happens to me too,I have a mahoosive waist that is all in one with my hips, look like a man really.Only thing that helps is to wear a belt with them as I looked ridiculous walking down the road hoiking them up every 5 mins

IAmRubyLennox · 20/01/2012 15:20

Not at all, seeker, not quite that delusional!

I think my problem is the same as Quiet's, I'm a real apple shape (must do something about this before I have a heart attack) and perhaps that's the crux of the matter. Or the crotch of it Grin.

Same prob here. Had a quick look at Levi's. Great idea. Much like bra fitting, a couple of measurements taken. Sounds like it's the answer.
Anyone know are these Levi's 1. comfy, 2. worth the money?

nannipigg · 20/01/2012 16:01

I have the same problem, I think it's cos they are stretchy jeans and they automatically go to the thinner parts of your legs, therefore pulling them down....I have to wear a belt with mine :)

QuietOhSoQuiet · 20/01/2012 17:16

Just had a look at the levis website and used their fit thingy,I need slight curve jeans. Then had a look on ebay to see if I could get them any cheaper but am horrified by the look I found

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Levis-Ladies-4400-New-Slight-Curve-Classic-Modern-Med-W30L30-/330674228328?pt=UK_Women_s_Jeans&hash=item4cfdb84c68

My eyes have been burnt with that mumsyish look Shock

lurkingaround · 20/01/2012 17:52

Sheesh, they are shocking! Surely they look better than that in RL? They are truly awful!

LolaLadybird · 20/01/2012 17:55

Blimey that pic's not exactly going to sell them any jeans is it?!

I have the same problem and it's certainly not because I am beautifully slim (sadly!). Again it doesn't happen with other jeans just my skinnies -even with a belt - and I end up with the crotch a couple of inches lower than it should be. I'm not sure its even anything to do with body shape - I have 2 friends who have the same problem and we're all very different shapes.

IAmRubyLennox · 20/01/2012 18:31

Just clicked on the link. My eyes are bleeding. My mum is 66 and she wouldn't put the bins out in those!!

The ones on the Levis website look so much better.

Those jeans are astonishing! Shock (so much so they will probably be "in" next season. Actually, if you wore them with Swedish Hasbeens and socks and a pussybow blouse maybe you could get away with it in Hoxton?! Grin
