Satchel bag - where to find a good one

Hi folks, I need some pointers on where to look for a nice new women's satchel style bag - needs to be fairly strong and capacious as I will be using it at work and will be lugging huge A4 files etc in it. It also needs to have a carry handle and a cross body strap if possible as well.
Ideally leather (tricky for my budget I know) but doesn't have to be.
Not blingy or fussy in style. Budget is £60 max.

I have no idea about buying good bags as have always made do with cheap and cheerful ones, but would like something a bit nicer now.

Thanks in advance, Selks x

Zatchels

Selks · 19/01/2012 21:40

Thanks....had a look at Zatchels. They're a little too trad for me however, and don't have a carry handle on the top. Appreciate you posting though Tethers.

(........but I'm liking the Zatchels saddle bags...might have to put one of those on my birthday wish list Smile)

Probably not what you are looking for but I am a huge Kipling fan.

Here is the Erasto, the tan-ish colour is in the sale for £46 which is a bargain and is big enough to fit a lever arch.

Just a thought Smile

Oh, and 'NOWGET10' gets you another 10% off too.

These have been recommended to me but I don't have one myself: www.cambridgesatchel.co.uk/

Scaramanga bags are FAB!! Tough but soft leather - just what you need!!

tethersend · 19/01/2012 21:56

M&S

Topshop (check in store)

Asos

HoF

Selks · 19/01/2012 22:11

Wildthings, thanks for your post but as you say not quite what I'm looking for. I need something more formal looking.

Faith, thanks, nice bags but again too traditional looking

Tethers, you're on the right tracks....particularly like that Topshop one (and Topshop has an even nicer one that slightly outside my budget, sob...here). The HoF one is also a definite contender. You've got the idea of what I'm after. Thanks for the suggestions.

I second Scaramanga fantastic bags. They are a bit smelly at first though

Selks · 19/01/2012 22:24

Thanks South. Some interesting ones there. I like the tan warehouse one.

BHS

If you do decide to go over budget

Selks · 19/01/2012 22:36

The BHS link didn't work, Tethers, it just took me to the BHS home page.

That Asos one is lovely, but a bit pale. Shame as it's gorgeous and a bargain.

Many thanks for your suggestions Tethers. I'm off to bed now but if you have any other flashes of inspiration I'll gladly peruse them. Cheers!
