What colour highlights for a dark brunette?

I have very dark brown hair and fancy a few highlights ready for the summer.

What colours can you recommend?

I am thinking maybe caramel/toffee colours but am a little nervous

Hairdresser looked at my eye colour and skin tone and brought a book of colours for me to look at and we agreed on a couple that looked good.

I'd be surprised if a hairdresser just asked you to name some colours, they do often have a book - what colour are your eyes? Are they warm or cool tones?

My eyes are green, quite a dark green I think.

I have lightly tanned skin.

Do they have swatches?

I have never had highlights before.

All the hairdressers I've been to for highlights have had a book of swatches, yes. Well, all except for the crazy lady I got through Groupon who cut in loads of mental layers, pulled it through a cap and then peroxided the lot. But I have blocked that out as I was so traumatised that was a rare experience I think.

If your eyes are a warm green and you're tanned than it will probably look nice with some warm caramelly type colours. I'm sure they will have a book.

Would warm colours still be ok?

I need an idea before I go then i'm not bamboozled by the book of colours!
