What colour nails with a purple dress?

I have the purple LK Bennett davina dress (too much time lurking on s&b) and I'm wearing it to a smart party at the end of the month.

My question is what colour nails? Purple or pink seem just a tad matchy-matchy. Black may look like I'm trying to be young and funky ( which I'm not!). So do I just stick to a natural shade?

I would appreciate your thoughts...

What about a grey or taupe colour - OPI do lots, they often have a purple tinge to them.

I would go for a cream/white shade - bit like the top of a french manicure. Will look lovely. Black never a good look with a dress unless you are under 17.

I have my nails done with Gelish and I am currently wearing a colour that would look fabulous with a purple dress - sort of a dark grey with a hint of purple and a tiny bit of sparkle. I think it's this one.

Although, a nice green would look good too, I especially like Sea Foam Out of all the colours I have my nails painted, this gets the most comments by far. With Gelish though you'd have to get it done professionally.

I would wear a red nail polish with purple , dark one not pillar box red

silver? or a grey with a mother of pearl sheen?

illamasqua do some nice contrasting colours - how about teal or a mid blue?

I would go for a metallic colour, kind of a silvery gold. There was a gorgeous one in the Muppets OPI collection - Designer de Better
