I am having a new bed delivered at the weekend (a favour from a family member) and it's high quality at a rock bottom price therefore, beggars can't be choosers.

But...It's a divan! They're not beautiful to look at.

What do you disguise yours with? I'm trying to steer away from the dreaded valance thing.

What about a few lovely bed throws?

Over the top of the duvet spike? It's an idea, though I'd struggle to make it look tidy!

...aren't throws usually just over the foot end of the bed?

I had a friend who set about covering hers with some lovely fabric and a staple gun, I think she pinched the idea from a show house. It did look good!

Box pleat valances rather than ruffle ones. Ultimately, I want heavier weight ones than just sheet weight in a neutral fabric. Loads of places doing them made to measure as well as big upholstered headboards.

mumtoted - that's a BRILLIANT idea and very easily achievable in my line of work. Why didn't I think of that?

member - I had a decent box pleated valance on my old bed - a Laura Ashley one I think - but they get scfuffy-looking if you don't wash them often and I can't be arsed with dragging it off and on TBH.

You need large head/ wall board - as in this from White Company
also agree box pleat valance arrangement of some kind is a must.
