what colour boots and tights with purple dress?

I'm utterley clueless about this as am a habitual jeans wearer. However having spent money recently on dresses and tunics I need advice on what to put on my feet.
With a black dress its not an issue, would always wear black tights and boots. But what do you do with other colours?
could you/would you wear a purple dress with black tights and brown boots? Dark grey tights maybe?
What about a turquoise dress and brown boots- what colour tights then?
Please help I want to get the look right and not be resigned to a life in trousers,

Black tight and boots should go well with a purple dress. Havent a clue about turquoise and brown though

I don't have a problem with brown and black together, or silver and gold for that matter, but that's just my opinion! Re the tights, with a purple dress black tights and black boots, or grey tights. Perhaps another shade of purple tights and brown boots would go too. With turquoise dress it's harder i think. If it's more a teal-y colour perhaps navy tights and brown boots? Dorothy Perkins do some good opaque tights in lots of colours and they're inexpensive, so try some out and see!

I've got a purple dress and wear it with black tights and boots - think it looks OK as I've got positive comments from the trendy girls at work
