Are Monsoon dresses sized small or large?

I am overseas but would like to order this dress from Monsoon.

Do you know if their dresses fit on the small or large side? According to their size guide some of my measurements are size 8, and some a size 10 Confused. Not sure what to go for.

Thanks

I'm a 12/14, but always have to buy the 14 in Monsoon.

nothruroad · 11/01/2012 07:35

That's odd. I'm a 10/12 and always fit into 10 in Monsoon, sometimes even need to get 8. I thought the sizes were quite big - maybe it depends on your body shape.

SimoneD · 11/01/2012 09:24

I would definately say that Monsoon sizes are really big. I always have to buy the size below, sometimes 2 sizes. If you are an 8-10 I would say that the 10 would be too big for you.

Mi4 · 11/01/2012 09:24

A little roomy but not a full size bigger. Maybe half a size?

UsedToBikeAndRunAndSki · 11/01/2012 09:25

A bit big.

SaraBellumHertz · 11/01/2012 09:29

Monsoon definitely come up big (at least a size) unless you buy the fusion range which comes up a little small.

SaraBellumHertz · 11/01/2012 09:37

Obviously also depends what shops you are comparing to: big compared to Oasis and Ted Baker; average compared to next and reiss; small compared to M&S

DuchessEm · 11/01/2012 09:42

I always find that I need a smaller size in Monsoon as they come up big.

YankNCock · 11/01/2012 09:44

I find they come up big. At a time when I could barely get into a 22 in other shops, I could get into a 20 in Monsoon dresses. I think part of it is that they realise if you are bigger, you also probably have big boobs!

thejaffacakesareonme · 11/01/2012 10:46

I think it can depend on the style of the dress. I've found that they've come up both big and small. Could you buy both and then return one?

notyummy · 11/01/2012 11:13

They are big.

suburbandream · 11/01/2012 11:16

I would say Monsoon sizes are slightly big - I'm a 12-14 but usually fit a 12 in Monsoon, although annoyingly I find that the sleeves are often really tight (although I realise this is not a problem in the dress you've chosen! I just find it frustrating as I definitely don't have "bingo wings" but the arms can be a problem for me!)

DD1 has a S (8-10) knitted dress which I'd say is exactly the same fit as her long size 10 Next stretch dress. Given she's a 12 in non stretch stuff, I'd say true to the top edge of the size or slightly larger.

SantasENormaSnob · 11/01/2012 19:04

Slightly big IMO

Thanks all, I really appreciate the responses. I might take a chance on the 8 in that case, I'm still trying to lose a little after DC2 (12 weeks old) so hopefully when I wear it in March it will be right! My hips and waist are where it's questionable for the measurements.
