if anyone is interested.

Chic jersey dress- terrible. Rip off at £79. Frumpy, droopy, under bust seam too low/ too high for a waist.

Valentine dress- lovely but has a polyester lining. Might keep but it's a bit uber smart for every day- unless you want it as office wear or occasion wear.

Ponte Roma dress- just odd. neckline is very high- felt strangled. Small fitting and very stretchy- size up! Nice idea but needs a lower neckline.

Santorini shift- in blue. Quite nice and with a 20% discount may keep but waiting for the longer length now as well, because it is very short in regular- 3-4 inches above the knee and I am only 5' 3. has anyone got it in grey?

Loafers- nice and may keep but will change colour from beige with orange trim to navy. perhaps. Quite narrow fitting which is what I need.

I am disappointed with their dresses this season and trousers- nothing new.

Dresses are in disappointing colours- the only one I could possibly wear would be navy and I already have 1 navy summer dress.

I hope their summer wear might be better- they seem to overlap spring and summer at whim!

Most dresses are too droopy for my small frame and the shift styles come mainly in garish florals or navy.

I can't enthuse about the jersey dress- sorry- don't mean to offend but even the petite length is 36 which is knee length on me and will just look frumpy- and again, no colours that grab me. :(

I too only buy plain Boden stuff now.
Agree with Amelia re colours this year.
I will probably do navy and taupe .

Northernlurker · 12/01/2012 19:22

Wrap top fine, weekend tunic very, very BAD.

QueenCess · 12/01/2012 19:30

Anyone tried the cropped cashmere cardigan? Last years was small and too long in the body compared to the previous year. What is the quality like?

polyhymnia · 13/01/2012 08:57

Northernlurker - agree Weekend tunic bad. Not just the bright print I mentioned but the not very nice feeling material and the cut, which wasn't flattering on me. It was one of the cheaper pieces but sadly I see why.

Sonotkylie · 13/01/2012 09:03

While I like a bit of navy (taupe kills me dead) and for those of us leaving our black years behind, its great, isn't the prospect of a summer of navy and taupe rather dismal? Is that why we get seduced by the idea of the prints only to run screaming from them in the flesh when we remember that a) they make us look like aliens and b) some of them are just very very nasty.

Mrsrobertduvall · 13/01/2012 09:27

I have never bought anything from Boden but got a catalogue sent yesterday.
I did like the Deauville jacket....I am very tall, long arms, size 14-16 bust but smaller waist.

GeorginaWorsley · 13/01/2012 11:24

Agree navy and taupe sounds dismal,I won't wear together though, usually do taupe with cream, navy with white.
May look for something in a buttery yellow.
I wear silvery grey and charcoal in summer too, again usually with white.

Sonotkylie · 13/01/2012 12:41

Yes I fall back to lots of grey tones too but hanker after real colour - emerald, red, cobalt, think of it ... I suppose its down to accessories now. Wish I could be a teenager again - guess what, I wore grey then too because it was cool!

CardiCorgi · 13/01/2012 13:52

How does the fit in the Deauville jacket come out? I'm a 5'3", slimmish pear.
I did like the shirt dress but have a nasty feeling that what looks good on their model will look like a frumpy sack on me.

Rassy · 13/01/2012 15:56

Has anyone got the relaxed knitted tunic? I have a boden voucher burning a hole in my pocket and thought this looked good in the catalogue!

polyhymnia · 13/01/2012 16:10

No, I too thought it had possibilities (in navy!), so interested in any feedback on it. At least it's not patterned!

Rassy · 13/01/2012 17:11

I thought it looked very White Company!

ameliagrey · 13/01/2012 17:24

The Deauville jacket is true to size IMO.

I am 5' 3 as well. it is a short jacket- see measurements.

I have found the sleeves quite long and will have to alter- the button on the cuff is not really moveable, so I think I am going to have to take the button off then turn up the sleeves:( I have ordered an 8 to try ( got the 10 at the moment) but all the sizes are now out of stock for 5-6 weeks.

Has anyone tried the long sleeve breton stripe t-shirt tops from the new season? Do they come up big or small??
Also I like the look of the pewter messenger style bag - is it huge?? In some pictures it looks so!!

Schulte · 13/01/2012 18:59

Ah you see the navy, which you all complain about, has been my downfall... I love anything navy and so I have just spent a ridiculous amount of money on my spring order. Choosing the right size is always like playing the lottery though, so some things are bound to have to go back!

Schulte · 13/01/2012 19:00

And hmmm - my catalogue doesn't even have 220 pages - do they have various types for gold/silver/occasional customers?

GeorginaWorsley · 13/01/2012 20:50

Haven't got my catalogue yet.

TantePiste · 13/01/2012 21:51

There is so much navy this spring, and I am swayed toward every bit of it. My order hasn't arrived yet (overseas), but in it will be the merino henley and must have jumper, both in navy, the grey print textured cotton skirt, and the double layer tee in pewter.

I would like to hear more regarding the fit of the paris jersey dress. I am 5'4" and wondering if one needs more height? Can it be worn as a day dress, or is it too vavoom?

mamijacacalys · 13/01/2012 22:34

Hankering after the Paris dress too... will report back if I succumb.
Ventured into Boden dresses last season for work, as a change from my usual top and trousers combo, and was pleased with the look/fit.
Border print tunic, Ibiza tunic and woven trim jersey dress all arrived today and keeping them all (am in the apparent minority of people who likes a print). Double layer tee in navy also a good wardrobe staple.
Am waiting for a pair of jeans, due next month apparently.
Agree with Amelia that lengths are all over the shop though...

polyhymnia · 13/01/2012 23:55

I'm tall and the Paris dress, in the L at any rate, was far too long on me. Sadly, it looked really frumpy. However, I'm also large. So maybe it would look better on someone more slender, and in the Regular length. If it did suit your figure, would certainly be fine as a day dress.

Notice you liked the border print tunic - the print was far too full-on and bright for me, as I said, but obviously lots of people like brights and I guess that's why Boden have so many this season.

polyhymnia · 13/01/2012 23:56

PS Yes, the lengths and the fit generally are all over the place. Annoying.

Sonotkylie · 14/01/2012 11:33

Tie cardigan in ocean just arrived. Lovely colour and really flatters me. With navy casual jersey dress i will look just divine (delusional) and it satisfies my craving for colour! Best of all credit card statement arrived this morning and the Boden order just missed it. So still in the hunt for a frugal January. Watch me skip!

ameliagrey · 14/01/2012 15:27

The Santorini dress has come in longer length and I am keeping it. Be warned this dress comes up very short- the long length on me is mid knee and I am just 5' 3.

I submitted reviews several days ago to Boden and none has appeared- and it has let me review the dresses again- how odd. None of my reviews was glowing which is a bit suspicious Hmm
