What do I do now after my colours

Right , I've had my colours done today and I'm a autumn.

The only problem is that some of the colours I don't like, I'm meant to suit cream but I much prefer white, and deliberatly dont have any cream as i think its yuck.

Did you find the more you wore 'your colours' the better you liked them?

And do you have any tips on what to do next, did you find it useful when you go shopping or hard to find colours you suit?
Any other tips gratefully received.
Thanks

Its overwhelming at first. And its tempting to ignore their advice if some of the colours dont appeal to you.

But trust me, when you start to wear the proper colours you can see a huge difference, my skin looks better , my eyes brighter, I know it sounds like a load of tosh but you'll see. Im a colours bore now (can you tell? ; ) ) I want everyone to get it done its made such a difference to me

I was horrified at being told not to wear black but now I can see that wearing "my" colours is SO much better I rarely wear black (especially near my face)

My best advice is to buy a couple of tops and scarves in your "correct" colours, start with the ones that do appeal to you. Id be surprised if you dont see a difference and want to get more and more in the right colours. After a few weeks I found it easy to quickly identify my colours in the shops so in a way its easier than shopping "before" when I had to process everything that was in a shop and figure out if I liked it.

I have to say, almost as much of a revelation as the clothes has been the make up. I am gobsmacked at how much better I look in the correct lippy.

So Id say, get an Autumn lippy if you havent already, a few tops and scarves and hopefully within weeks you'll be convinced.

I was absolutely shocked to find out that I am a summer. After a few weeks, I started experimenting with the new colors, and gradually I've started to like them.

Before, I thought my skin and hair looked really dull and my overall look was faded and tired. Now that I wear my colors I think I look really good.

As a first thing, I bought a couple of scarves in my best colors. They made the rest of my wardrobe look a lot better on me. Another idea is to start applying your newfound colors to your makeup. After I got rid of yellow-based makeup colors, I've looked a lot fresher and younger (you should perhaps double check any blue-based shades you may have).

I have a quick reference photo of my color wheel on my iPhone. The swatches are too cumbersome to haul around but I keep checking my phone when I buy things - double checking "is this really my color" before an impulse purchase has really helped, much fewer wrong choices. I feel I can now focus more on the cut and material. Shopping is much simpler now.

I'm an autumn too! There are a handful of the colours that I'm not super-keen on (most of the taupey/beigey ones), so I just don't buy anything in those colours. I think the lovely rich colours make up for some of the more 'meh' ones. Do you dislike cream because you think of it as a dark muddy white? I actually find the Autumn cream is such a light, bright cream that it's not what I think of as cream at all - the more yellowy old lady cream colour (you know what I mean) isn't really an autumn colour. I find that thinking of it as 'oyster' rather than cream helps me remember the brightness and the fact it is off white, not yellow-cream. Also, the fact that I look like a corpse in white, in comparison to the cream, helps Smile

Shopping is definitely simpler - I can more or less discount at least 50% of a shop at a glance, which (although it can be frustrating initially) makes shopping a lot quicker! I find I spend more time researching shops online before going in, so I can see if there's anything worth searching out.

I am a complete convert to it, am having the HoC style day on the weekend too, which I'm hoping will be the icing on the cake.

how exciting :) how do you figure out what you are??? :)

Thank you everyone for the positive remarks. I'm hoping I will also see how good it is.

Hopefully-that is exactly what I keep picturing as cream, a bit like nicotine stained lace blinds! I just envisage dirty white.
I keep looking at colours and trying to work out if they are a yellow or blue based but I think I'm useless at it, I can't tell with most.
What lipsticks do the autumn people find nice.
